I have a chance to buy this nice little 1929 roadster(all steel). I got the inside scoop on it and it seems the price is right. I can get it for $11,000. It would need a radiator, gauges, interior, and rear brakes. Kinda new to these, Im a buick guy. I know the pics suck but what you all think???

The price doesn't seem that bad but since you are new to AV8's, I would look for one already running.. Nice looking roadster...

If you have any buddies that are knowledgeable on these you might want to have one of them look at it first.Avoid a pig and a poke.

if it is something you want and your not worried about making money on, just buy it.. after all said and done building one you will never get all your money and time out of it anyways,

    Grill shell?

    Windshield frame?

    Motor run?

Not bad if it's clean and that close to driving. Does it have a title? You're way ahead if it does.

I'd say for the sum of parts it may be worth the $11,000 if it is what you are looking for, but you could probably do as well or better by starting over. The all steel body is certainly worth something. Does the flathead run and is it good to go? a costly repair if not. For me the disc. brakes would have to go as they don't really fit the era of the flathead engine. What rearend does it have, do you like the wheel and tire combo, what about the ride height?

    Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Hey all, the motor runs great and she yard drives. It has the grille, hood and stuff that comes with it, just not in the pic. It has a gm 10 bolt rear. The tires are all new radials. I wanted something channelled, but I can do that myself later on. It has the windshiel that has already been cut down. It does have a title as well.

What a great head-start to a kick-ass hot rod roadster.

You couldn't build one for that price. Just me, I have one in my garage that I'm doing. I would jump all over $11K if the motor is good and the body is decent.

  12. Looks like a good buy to me! Done AV8's are bringing up in the 20k range.

  13. Well, if you are looking for an opinion......
With the info above and what I can see, looks like a decent deal.

I really wanted a 32, but the price on this one seems good. I could have this car road worthy in a weekend. The paint is new and nice. Wasn't really sure about a 29 because they don't seem to be as desireable as later models. I would only buy this if I was making out on the deal and getting a good price. I'm the type who will only buy something that I can get every penny back on it if I need to.

I think you are safe at that price. You didn't mention fenders, does it have them? It has the original type frame, so it could be run either way.

No fenders with it. But it would be nice to have the option.

Looks like a lot of car for the money...I dont see much more than 2-3 grand left to invest to make a hell of a hot rod, and you would have no problems getting 15-20 out of it running and driving with any kind of interior!

I think it's good deal. '29s are far from the bottom rung of the desirability ladder. plus, the sum of the parts would far exceed the purchase price. Do you have access to the receipts, by the way? Looks like and easy car to get on the road, assuming it was built right.

I paid more than that for my roadster and I immediately took it all apart for a complete rebuild:eek:

I'll give you a frame of referance...I have a '29 roadster, 38 flathead, dropped front axle, www's, artillery wheels, 39 tranny and banjo, rough body and no interior, chopped windshield, and I have between 5-6K in it and it still needs to be put together. Oh, and no title. From what I've seen on here, mine is no steal, but about average I guess. The body makes all the difference IMO. Your's looks really clean..lot's of money saved there. Don't know if I'd pay twice as much to get it as sweet as that one, but then everybody's different.

cool car, worth the price, but i always enjoy the build and doing it my way, finish the car the way you want it and enjoy, nothing wrong with a 29

It looks like a bargain, esp. if the motor is sound. A '29 is second only to the proverbial Deuce in terms of desirability, and with one like this you'll have a more interesting rod, for less $.

Judging from the minimal pictures, the body and paint look really good. Unless you enjoy hunting and storing parts (nothing wrong with that!) and you just want to finish the car your way and drive, this deal would be hard to beat. Make sure the title matches the car. If there is no vin on the car, check with your Sec of State to see what you would have to do to before finalizing the deal. Go for it.

I think I'm gonn grab it. I can have it on the road in no time. From all the comments it seems like this is a good deal. I can buy it road worthy for 13k with no interior. but I want to be the one who puts the finishing touches on it.

To me the 28-29 roadster is the best looking roadster besides the 33-34 roadster.

  28. Definitely, the mill makes or breaks it for value. You could not even consider building that car for 11K if the engine is good. Looks like a great car, DO IT….

You said yourself that you really wanted a '32, so just wait for the car that you wanted in the first place.
