I just picked up an English wheel after many years of wanting one. The anvils are missing so I need to pick some up. I know a lot of you guys have wheels so what better place to ask? Thanks, Pete
http://hoosierprofiles.com/Home_Page.html Same place, he changed the name a year or so ago. That's where I got upper and anvils. Couldn't be happier.
Thanks guys. Just spent some time looking at Hoosier's website. Looks like good quality stuff. Any recommendations on the best range of profiles or do I just go with a standard 6 piece set? Do they come with axles? Pete
Depends on your machine and the kinds of things you will be making on it. Alrge panels - wider wheels, smaller things like motorcycle fenders - narrower wheels. Talk to Joe when you order your wheels and he will get you set up with what you need. Best quality stuff out there.
I would suggest getting as many profiles as you can afford. The basic six piece set will get you started and do a lot of work, but the other profiles always seem to come in handy. I got the basic six piece set from Hossier Profiles for the wheel I made for my shop, and also had them do two custom profiles...they came out perfect. These guys make a great product and stand behind their work.
Hey, I'd suggest you don't need but the middle three anvils! A highly crowned anvil isn't much use to an experienced hand, a dead flat anvil-'bout as worthless as mulecum! " A government by the people, for the people '' my ass!
Since we are near Charlotte, NC, we go to Irvansmith. Pretty good stuff. www.irvansmith.com/scart/tools-equi....html?osCsid=a68967c2bea3a92ab73211f8de57de0f
Thanks Mark. I didn't think of him. I have been in touch with Hoosier but have not yet made a purchase. Pete
