I have a carb off a 216 chevy (Rochester B) and there is a bb that serves as a one way valve under the accelerator pump. IT IS STUCK AS HELL. I have tried to use o-ring picks to free it up. I have soaked it. I have taken off the adjacent screen and put an air gun on it with 140psi. I have even put a little heat on it. I can't get it out. Please help.
That check ball is aluminum, maybe soak it with some coca cola overnight. Also if your accelerator pump is the type with a check ball in the lower stem the pump well does not need a check ball fill passage, gas comes over the well through the stem. Hope this helps.
I think my accel pump does have a check ball in the lower stem. So what your saying is I can just leave it stuck? That would solve all my problems if that is correct.
That is correct, not all B,BC,BV rochester carbs used a pump well intake passage. As long as the float level allows fuel to come in over plunger at rest, the pump stem check ball will alow gas to flow to under side of accelerator pump. When pump is depressed check ball will block stem passage and fuel will be forced past discharge 3/16" steel ball and spring through squirter port.
