I don't consider the H&H heads to be reproductions, just made under new owners. Barney always had heads for sale at his house. He just turned over everything he had to H&H,and they continued makeing his heads, with his tooling, and even the same foundry casting them. Old used heads are a big **** shoot at swap meets, and auctions, seldom worth the asking price.

***** You bring up an interesting point here. I have always considered the Navarro heads made by H & H flatheads to be reproduction. I know that Barney turned everything over to the Herman brothers, same tooling, same foundry and about the only difference is that Barney isn't there to do the machining on the heads. I have always thought that Navarro originals were made by Barney Navarro himself and the H & H flathead parts bearing the Navarro name to be reproduction since they have been made by someone else other than Barney Navarro. You could be entirely right here or I could be right, or we could both be right. The answer is probably in the way you interpret what a reproduction as being. I'm sure the Cyclone heads and the three deuce intake would pretty much be in the same category. H & H flatheads have done an excellent job in producing excellent quality Navarro heads and intakes just the same as Barney did when he was running the business. They have also done an excellent job of promoting the hobby, promoting flatheads, and keeping the Navarro name alive and well. You are right about buying a set of used flathead heads. It can be a real adventure!

That statement is what I hate about this hobby. Just buy a new one one, Alot less h***el. The HAMB is about Old time Hot Rodding. It`s suppose to be difficult. I`d walk across a parking lot to see and old flathead with original speed equipment and a little grease and grime on it. I know it has history and a story behind it. To see a freshly rebuilt flathead motor with all brand new stuff bolted on. Any body with a little money can do that. I know, even it is cool to look at.

I agrea with this train of thought. If new heads were $700 then old ones in excelelnt usable condition would be worth more to me.

Be worth a lot more if there was a complete flattie under them.

Good set of Fenton heads are worth 400-650 depending on condition. 100-200 is way off.

Thread from the way-back machine. :D

And Warmer, I think your prices were more in line 12 years ago when this thread was new.

So what about a realistic price on original Eddie Meyer heads? One set for the 8BA and a second set for the previous version of the flattie...

A brand new pair of ho-hum Offy heads is over $1,400 at Speedway. Consider that when you are pricing some rare heads.

Of course, condition is very important too.

I have a single left-hand Edmunds 8BA head. I have had a "Sell It or Buy It ad" here and on "The Ford Barn" for over a year with no results.

There is a single left hand Edelbrock on eBay (Buy it now price $285) : https://www.ebay.com/itm/3949116744...acement=579806&cto_pld=7XCEQmc2AABLuaeUcg3bsQ

Good God man. Why are you being coy about what you paid? You bought them or you wouldn't think you paid a fair price. You don't want to say what you paid, but less than half the price of new (we can all do SOME math) and you mock someone suggesting they are worth almost what you paid, but not quite. That, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with the "old car" hobby. If it's an investment, we're all foolish because very rarely does one recoup the investment.
I don't know why I bother to reply to this post, it just bugged the **** out me I guess...

  24. You should have started this thread with a poll with price categories to vote for, $0 to $100..... $101 to $200..... $201 to $300, etc.
That way you could receive the various opinions weighted by the number of votes without all the drama. Plus you could accept or reject the numbers any old way you choose to mine the data and everyone else could do the same.
Instead, we just have another thread of "picking **** with the chickens".

In addition to this being an old thread, this guy hasn't been on the forum since June 2022.

Agree 100%. Any Fenton stuff has really dropped in value. Asking and getting price are two different things.

The only set of used heads I've ever purchased were a set of Smiths. Originals are rare as hen's teeth and I've never seen a set for sale in the wild. When I did, I bought them.
