Projects 1941 Ford Pickup

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cruisinthe34, Oct 16, 2012.

  1. Thought I would post some about the evolution of my '41 Ford Pickup Project. Here's an early build chasis shot just past a roller:

You'll notice a lot of pink on this build. I lost my wife to cancer four years ago (shortly after completing this build with a Flathead) and this truck was built with a Cancer awareness theme.

This summer I pulled the old Flathead and built a SBF 5.0 HO Roller motor to stuff in this truck. Other upgrades (I know thats debatable to some folks) include new hub to hub IFS power steering etc etc etc.

Always had a soft spot for those trucks. looks good.

Just curious, what's written on the firewall?

  8. The firewall are signatures of the folks who helped finish the first build. Here are a couple more pics of the truck today, about ready to roll off the lift:

I think we nailed the stance !!

Great cause, magnificent finish work. Love the oil bath air cleaner modification.
The spare looks so classic there, above the running board...(where it belongs!)
The '39 taillights in the rolled rear pan, which was carefully blended.

Real obvious is the solid planning, in both builds.

Stance is everything. Yes, you nailed it. Tightly.

  14. As we all know, these old cars create lots of attention.
Utilizing that attention, to bring greater attention to a cause you really believe in..priceless.
    Good job.

  16. Great looking truck and a very nice tribute to your wife!

  17. Today is a big day. Plan to finish plumbing the radiator, start the engine for the first time, get the hood back on and get the truck off the lift. Wish us luck.

VERY nice job on the truck. It's rare, sad to say, to meet someone who hasn't had their life touched in some way by the C word.

Like the plate on it too

  23. Saxt: I'm running a Ford C-4 transmission. I ran it behind the flathead too, but it should perform better with good vacuum of the 5.0 HO motor.

Excellent day in the garage today, got the radiator plumbed, all the fluids in and fired the motor for the FIRST TIME !!!

Didn't get the hood back on yet, nor off the lift, but we're down to a VERY short list !

For one, we did get the front bumper back on:

Wow, so sorry for your loss. That truck is truely a work of art. The dedication to your wife leaves me a little teary eyed to say the least. I'm sure she would be proud.
