Bleed sweep, Model A frame, No channel, 30/31 or 32 radiator shell...What radiator?

Some day this Winter I'll do a research project for a tech week thread with all the different combos of radiators people have used in Model A's...but until then...

Are any of you running a similar set-up? With the sweep the frame is 2" higher that the stock height. I have no channel on the body.

I have read about the Tractor Supply ford radiators. Also the 1965 1966 Ford Mustang radiators in the 1928 or 1929 shells.

Will the Mustang be a better fit for my application since it is shorter than a stock 1930 1931 Model A radiator?

The other option I have considered is getting a stock 30/31 radiator and having it re-cored. But that'll be the most expensive.

I'm not really interested in aluminum radiators.

    Thanks.

i have a 29 pont with a modified aa shell, with a mustang radiator, two by three frame swept up in the front, not much of a choice for it to look right, need to try to keep the shell about the same height as the cowl, good luck

to me that frame is made for a channeled car.. the sweep when exposed might look broken... the sweep comes out of the firewall and flows with the channeled body..

    my opinion,,,

sorry didn't really answer the radiator question... with out the sweep you will be able to run a bigger radiator.. when you do the sweep it will raise the front up thus getting a smaller radiator to match the top of the cowl..

I run a flipped upsidown 65 mustang radiator I hav a 4 inch channel and that fits pretty good but I run it in front of the crossmember..

I started my sweep just behind the firewall. I have a hood that follows that line.

I like it, but my opinion may change. Either way, I'll need a shorter radiator. I guess this post is pretty much worthless. I just need to find a good old radiator shop around here.

Thank you. I just wasn't sure about the width different between the 28/29 and 30/31. I have hood dimensions, but can find the stock radiator dimensions. -2" from stock means nothing to me.

Pretty much what I did too. I've got some hood sides that I'll trim the bottom to flow with the frame and the grille shell will be parallel with the firewall just like Henry intended.

Evel points out the frame being made for a channeled car and I partially agree. Without the hood sides, it might look broken to some but I feel the hood-sides help "disguise" the sweep some which is why I'll be running sides. No top though.

Not sure what I'll run for a radiator either. Good question I needed some answers to.

Hey that don't look bad.. I guess as long as it sits straight without a rake it might look alright.
