Hey Eugene, thanks for your service to our country! Don't have anything to add as far as history on the car...what are your plans for it?
I don't remember seeing it in any of the old magazines. That may be partially due to the current paint job. The flames and skirts don't do a thing for that car though. it needs some flush fitting skirts or maybe more on the cruiser skirt look then the space ship things.
plans for some clean up and doing about 5 shows this winter and not doing world of wheels!!! looks like the flames were just added was e bay #190733573896 skirts were hand made by that fameous fender skirt guy Delmar or someone seller told me i am too old and crippled to do full builds and got some bad news from VA today, well at least i know why i am sick now i only did 44 shows last year and landed up cl*** champion in ISCA with the riv and mostly broke after that rember i had to wait 50 years to do this and it had just been a wild ride the last 5 years rember i do appreciate all the comments, even if i hate some of them and will do what I want to do it needs a shifter and i am going to change front wheel treatment, , a little upholstery work and get a display together so i got 5 months to get er dun!!!
seller said skirts ere made by jimmie jones if i rember correct i picked it up in detroit area and if jones did the skirts it could of come from that area whoever owned this for 16 years must not of did much for shows with it!!! well i hope to get out and show it A FEW PLACES THIS WINTER DARN CAPLOCKS AND DISLEXIC FINGERS still cant get out of there
If the skirts are real Jimmy Jones skirts they are worth some coin. I grew up in Inkster, same place as Jimmy and where he would make those skirts in his back yard after getting roofs off of cars at Bishops junk yard off Michigan Ave. Lots of Kustoms BITD around these parts and Kustom supliers like Lee Plastics, Foxcraft skirts, etc.. I wonder of maybe that was a Bob Freyes owned vehicle? He's owned a few Kustoms around here and no offenese some of them were of questionable taste, i.e he would do some things totally right and then throw vogue tires and 20 inch modern chrome wheels on a car..... just saying..... I'll ask around I dig the car, would love to own it, but since you posted it up here..........please find a way to get rid of those "real flames" they do not belong on a Kustom and maybe some nice hubcaps....
I think the chip probably looked just fine before the m***ive quarter panel extensions. It's a little 'vertical' for me as far as shoe box chops go but with my hand over the tail it doesn't feel that far off, I wonder if it was built in stages? Maybe some ones got pix of it out and about pre flames and pre quarters? Wonder what it looks like from a rear 3/4 angle?
dont like it at all....just doesn't jive... side sail panels...frenched headlight area too far out...not crazy bout it at all
well i looked for a year and just finally bought, i do like the wild bodywork and want to show it i am going to do some work on it so its a driver, but costs etc will not do everything, it does have a 8 in chanel. in my eyes it does flow OK, we will see , I am gonna enter it in a big indoor show and will see how it places i dont need perfection to be a trophy *****!!~ my last car they told me to cut the roof off and replace and i did fine winning 5 ISC shows in a row last year i shoulda been born rich instead of good looking, then i could buy a perfect car
I like you plans Eugene. As usual here's another car that doesn't suit everyone but it might hold it's own on the indoor show circuit. People may not recognize it simply because it appears that it morphed through several phases to it's current state. I'd think the chop came long before the nose or tail fins and those came before the skirts were added and as you said the flames were the latest addition That would and do look fantastic on black 34 Ford street rods with billet wheels but miss the mark a bit on a full custom. Lots of different hands have been stirring that pot of shoebox stew over the past 40 years.
I'm not sure if it's the chop, or the quarters dropping off the way they do? Hard to tell in pictures.
