This car has been sitting at our family farm in the grove for i would say 50+ years. My uncle has been wanting it out, and someone should have rescued it a long time ago. I was wondering what kind of car this is, and do you think it is salvageable to make something out it? I know the pictures arent the best.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8109075855/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8109074677/in/photostream/
ok thanks for the input, I was just courious if itd be worth salvaging. As much as I want a coupe sounds like it wouldnt be worth it.
I can see an awesome coupester hiding there! One quarter looks really bad but I think I'd still get it. ( I KNOW I'd get it! ) Once you have it out in the open, start working on stuff and removing the bad parts you will get a realistic idea of whats needed. The lower sections aren't really a big deal...its all flat panel and tubing work. Thats not tough at all. the quarter(s) are more difficult...so I'd fix everything else first...then the quarters are worth the effort! LoL
the coupe is only yard art.. I'm more interested in the Dixy Square shopping center!!!!!!! can we pick that up for back taxes???
To checkbook hotrodders, its yard art. To anyone with time and talent, its a project waiting to be built.
Maybe that's yard art in Iowa or Californy. Here (and I suspect in a lot of other places) that's a good start! How bad do you want a coupe? What skills do you have? How much money do you have to buy something "better"? If it's free... drag it out and start working on it, like Hackerbilt said. I don't have much of a car yet but man, I wish I had started with that much!
Looks like it is in the same condition as an old 26 Model T body I once picked up for $35. With a little work it was starting to look like a coupe but I sold it before I finished it. All it takes is work, those bodies were built pretty simply. Hey, its better than what you have now, isn't it?
If you haven't the time or talent haul it out and list it in the classifieds so someone else can have at it. Scotty
people laughted at my roadster project, i had the top of the cowl and the top of the quarters, i do not know how to post pictures but it is now a good looking hotrod, safe it
Is there a dashboard in it? Might have white faced gauges in it, which are very hard to find. If it does, that would make it about '27-'28. The headlight switch is immpossible to find if it has one. It's goofy looking box on the steering column. In other words, get it. And I can't believe it's been almost 7 hours and no one has said "Jim Sibley would have it running by now".
Ok thanks for the input guys, I am headed there next weekend and will bring a trailer and dig it out. It doesnt hurt to see what I exactly have first. I will put up some more pictures of it out of the ground. I have wanted a coupe for awhile now, and think it would be cool to do this one that has been in the family forever, I have welding and painting skills, the problem is a place to work on it. it would be on the backburner for awhile. The price is right on it, free!
Look around the farm, as the grill and other parts are probably laying in the attic of a shed or other building. The frame was probably used under a hay rack or other type of trailer that may still be around there too.
Got it dug out on saturday it held together better than I thought. Here are the pictures of it on the trailer http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8146696536/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8146663269/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8146664267/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyvanderberg/8146697324/in/photostream/ Sorry I cant seem to get the pictures to work on here without a link. I would like to get a frame built and put a slant 6 in it. I want a manual transmission also. I know it will be a TON of work but it will be worth it in the end. I have talked to a couple people around here and they seem to think the top and trunk will be salvageable, any thoughts?
It's just metal, hammer it out and weld it up. I sold a '26-ish Dodge cowl and sedan front doors to a guy for $300 that wasn't much better, a couple years ago. Worst case it can be someone else's project.
