I'm in love with the Pontiac on the hill.

Early this spring what looks to be about a 1952 Pontiac appeared at a farmstead on a hill close to a road that I frequently haul grain down. It's a four door, has skirts over the rear wheels, a visor and even looks like it might have spotlights. From the distance I can see it from it looks like it's in pretty good shape. I wondered at the time it appeared if they might be getting ready to have an auction and drug the Pontiac out of one of the sheds on the property. (I love a good auction with interesting stuff on it) The months have p***ed and I have hauled thousands of bushels of grain down that road gazing longingly at the Pontiac on every trip. They also have an early 50's Chevy pickup sitting a little farther up the hill but I can't get a very good look at it.

I don't need another car but I have been sorely tempted to stop and ask about it. I could see myself driving that Pontiac though but I remember the time that a four door would not have interested me at all but now almost everything pre-80's and definitely pre-70's stuff is looking pretty good. There used to be a lot of this stuff sitting around but now days it's getting to be on the rare side to see anything interesting automotive sitting along the road. With the high s**** prices the last few years most of the stuff I used to lust after as I drove down the road has disappeared and I have seen numerous old vehicles that I or many of you would be interested in perched on unsafe looking trailers pulled by ratty looking pickups headed in the general direction of the largest crusher in the area. All this is leaving copious numbers of well-groomed homesteads along the highways that I travel. Occasionally I see a later front drive car sitting along somebody's barn but I have zero interest in that sort of vehicle and will not lament when I drive by and they are gone. All this makes my travels more and more boring, no wonder I get so tired anymore and I thought it was old age.

So every trip I make down that highway I will lust over the Pontiac. One day I'll drive by and it will be gone and my trip will become even more boring. But maybe somebody will drag out a 50's Studebaker for me to gaze out as I go by. I am a sick, SICK man!!!!!

A four door is like a little fat girl. More there than you really want. But still not bad lookin.

I am not a doctor but sometimes I play one on the internet. Yes, you are a sick sick man!

**** I don't shy away from 4 doors. I don't get these with thought to my "portfolio value", or worry about what some dumb*** is going to say about "You like your 4 doors don't you?" - No, I'm not a narrow minded dumb***.
    I have a '55 Chevy 4 dr, but by God, it's a '55 Chevy. I can't afford gold, but I can afford silver!

I have thought about stopping in the semi but I'm always in a hurry. I might swing by some weekend in the car. The old four doors look a lot better than they used to for some strange reason. My daughter prefers four doors she is always telling me what a pain my two door vehicles are. I think a lot of younger people prefer four doors.

Maybe you can rescue it and find it a good home. It's worth a try.

I went by there today hauling corn. I did manage to get a cell phone picture.

The shed on the right of the picture has a 73 up Chevy pickup in it, an old wagon and some other stuff in it.

You need to get up that hill before you're over the hill. But as an old trucker myself I know the feeling. Just can't stop any ole place and as for me I was a company driver with a high tech computer that told everytime I farted crosswise.
I p***ed a 55 Chevy sedan delivery for nearly a year at least twice a week. Finally I drove my car 30+ miles there to check. It was still there but sold the week before for a decent price. whaaaa!
Might be worth the drive back there to the hill. Hell Iowa ain't very large. It's just a small corn patch in the boonies.

And the top of that hill is a favorite hangout for I-DOT. I'll bet they like to hang out there to spot the heavy loads laboring up the hill. If I hammer on the big old twin cam ***mins in twelfth gear I can be doing 55 at the top pulling 85 thousand but I've driven trucks that would be doing about 40 up that same hill with 80,000. I've been going up and down that road in a truck for as long as I can remember, Dad used to haul livestock down that same road. Sorry to hear about the 55. Some weekend I might stop in with the car if I ever find the time.

I like two doors, but I can afford four doors. You neeeed to go check out that poncho. Maybe they just want to be rid of it. It might not be your dream car, but get it going and do some horse trading. What do you have to lose?
