Sorry, sorry, sorry. I know, another T5 question. I promise I have spent time looking and searching the archives but I haven't been able to find what I need to know. I'm putting a 350 into my 54 Belair and I want to put a 5 speed manual behind it. I'm pretty sure it needs to be a S10 T5 but wanted to check about the shifter location needed. I think it should be the forward position but confirmation from someone who has the same set up would be great. Don't want to lose the bench seat. I'm in the UK and I'm bringing both the motor and transmission (when I know the right one) over from the States and so want to make sure I get it right. If there is anything else I should look out for for this conversion a heads up would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance of help.
Just a suggestion, but since you have to import all the stuff to make this work, how about going with a Tremec tko500 instead? LOTS tougher than the T-5, and you don't have to baby it. It wouldn't be a big deal for me to run 2 miles down the road to the wrecking yard and grab another S-10 five speed if i got heavy footed one day, but a much bigger deal for you. I would say a mid shifter Tremec would fit without question.
Hey there. Thanks for that, I need to look at them again. Might need to stretch the budget a bit. Cheers.
