I was out the other day picking one of my wheel sources got a couple 1935 ford wires 16" and a 16" chevy artillery. I came a cross two old nice shape large Wire Wheels on a trailer. These are a split rim but look like a over grown model A rim. They have a Dodge Brothers center cap and have 7.50X20 tires on them. I did not pop the cap to check out how many lugs or spacing. Has anyone seen these are they something special or something of no interest. If anyone is interested in them he wants to sell and I will help make the deal work. thanks jim
True, but some wire wheels are harder to find than others. Chances are that they are Dodge wires- the DB boys love to find them and convert from wood to wires, but you'll need to pull the hubs as well (the wood wheel hubs are different).
28 and some 29 Model AA Ford trucks had wire wheels. It is very difficult to find a set of 4 good ones if you are restoring one of these trucks. During 29 Ford switched to the disc wheel and began having dual rear wheels on these great old trucks.
Ok I will go back and get pictures. These are wire truck wheels a wire wheel with a split ring to get tire on and off the wheel just like a big truck tire size is 7.50 X 20 Don't know if the dodge brothers center caps are original to those wheels but they look like it. jim
My 29 packard got 20 inch wire wheels with a split ring just like a truck wheel.I stil got a piece of a sledge inbeded in my face from removing the rings
When i get a chance I will get back three and get pictures. Cap is bigger like a model A. They have the same DB emblem in the center of the cap I think it looks like a 35 ford wheel with the mumps.
I'm interested. I have a '27 DB with wires 6 lug bolt pattern. I would love to see pics. Thank you. Jari12
