Does anyone have pics of bullet taillights in a 51 Chevy? I am seriously considering it. Probably 2 on each side, set in 3-4 inches. Or is that a stupid idea?
I think the back end of a '49-'50 Chevy has the most beautiful flowing lines of any Chevy made within 10 years of it, but any tail light, tacked onto it, (including the stock ones,) or drilled into it interrupts those fine lines, and not in a pleasing way. My favorite way of dealing with the requirement of tail lights on them is to put them in some slick looking bumper guards. And if they must go in the body, grafting in a '56-'60 Corvette tail light would be my next choice. And it's traditional...There was a How-to on it in an old R&C. They have bullet tail lights already in them too No, they ain't cheap, but they are repopped. Tail lights tunnelled into hunks of exhaust tubing welded into hole arbitrarily cut into those flowing lines reminds me of a Moray Eel peeking it's ugly head out of a hole in an undersea rock.
Sure. like this It's got the same shape fender. It's a natural. Guys usta put the '59 Caddy bullets in that housing on Vettes too. Or you could french in a tube cut to the same shape and put the bullet light in there. But they will look best if they are on the peak of the fender, where your car has the stainless trim covering where the fender is spot welded to the 1/4 panel now.
