That got it .Thats cool. I think I saw pics of it on a car show site that had some aussie coverage. I know I have seen it somewhere before.
that is Rod Hatfield he also has the 55 chev with the 1000 horse plane motor and the black T coupe with the twin blown big block ford he is well know here in oz he has just sold his engineering business and took all three cars to the USA see we can build some cool stuff down here
I seen this truck at the Nationals this year and had the opportunity to talk to this guy. He is cool as hell, having fun spending his retirement money and seeing the states. His innovation is inspiring. Among other things like the lincoln flatty, I loved his turn signal.... its a hand welded onto an arm the sticks out when you need to make your turn. He boxed three cars to the states at once.
That little truck was engineered wonderfully, nicely built, and the owner was a delight to talk with. In 4000 miles the only problem he had was a broken blower belt. He'd better hope he doesn't have to find any parts for that flatty v-12
Petejoe, that turn signal was a factory thing down here in Australia, and was fitted to most trucks up to the late '30's. I got one hangin in my shed.
I took these at the Wendover Nugget one night. The car is really well done and I was happy to get to look at it up close.
Geez Cragar! And you call yourself an Aussie. Peddro has already corrected you on one item, but everyone knows the Chev has around 3000 HORSEPOWER! Not just a plain jane big block Ford either, it's a BOSS 429. He also races down here on the salt and does alright, if you think 250+mph in a production car body is alright.
I am sitting in the motel in Fort Bragg, CA looking at the truck as I type this. We have traveled together from the salt to Spokane and now we are on our way to Pleasanton. The little truck runs along at about 50 miles per hour and has been reliable as can be. Rod and the missus are wonderful people and a joy to spend time with.
Thats not a knife............THIS is a knife. The dingo didn't eat my baby............my BABY ate the dingo! I love the lies boys tell. Baby I love you!! xxx Brandy
I've always really liked that truck. Glad to hear that its racking up miles and getting the royal treatment.
Funny though I don't remember it ever wearing those plates when it was getting around here..........................
It must be to try and atract the american crowd that will not understand what its "supposed" to be with out the LS7 and the 22 inch wheels.
