Posted about my new expanded family and the start of a father/son project a few months ago, we've made some progress. The earlier thread can be found here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=372715 The frame is completely cleaned up and has moved into the garage to work on. The pedal ***embly from a 1951 Ford F1 is in together with the brake booster and master cylinder. The steering box is mostly rebuild and detailed and ready to be installed. The cab is sitting on loose, making the brackets this week to mount it to the frame, the gas tank, hood and grille are just there for mock up. The hood will need some m***aging (way too wide), but it fits the cab contour and frame length pretty well. We moved away from the Buick 248 Straight 8 and are installing a straight 6 with a 4 speed, a little more driver friendly. Tried to find a Ford 300 straight 6 with a C6 to put in here, but had no luck locating one, found this engine, nice and light, powerful and parts are plentiful and cheap, good choice for a driver hotrod. Both my sons are learning a ton and are loving the attention they get at their new school when they talk about building their hot rod. To my huge surprise my girly girl 7 yo daughter has been the one spending most time in the garage, she wants to get her hands dirty and has been s****ing oil crud out of an oil pan, sandblasted parts, and cleaning steering box parts, she loves doing it and I love having her in the garage.
Sweet Project! Looking forward into seeing this all come together. Having a family project is a great Thing.
OK, the project is back on the front burner. Was burned out on my 3w for a bit, so back to this one. Did some organizing today and started fitting the suspension and shockmounts. I have all the parts to finish this project, and maybe some of the money to do the paint. Hope to have it ready for the thaw (but I say that every year
