That was their best show,...and all the old pros, in one place!!!!! Where is that car now ?

I also liked the 54 Ford wagon they did on that show;....I believe they "pancaked" the roof?

I didn't realize the historical significance of this episode of the show when I first saw it years ago. Wow what a neat gathering of talent.

I'm thinking the quality might've been a bit lower than if they had more time, yet still higher than almost anybody else could've done in a week. I think I noticed a fairly wide gap at the right side of the hood. No matter...it didn't take away the enjoyment of seeing those icons do what they do best. Watching Bill Hines do the leading was an absolute treat. And Gene was a madman with the sawzall...knew right where to cut. They were all great. I also thoroughly enjoyed witnessing Jessie's uncharacteristic show of respect and humility for once in his life. I laughed when he said that usually, when the gas tank is removed, it's a ****shoot whether or not the car ends up being on fire...lol. But he didn't have to worry with these guys, and was able to relax a little. The team's expertise is evident in not only knowing what to do...but also what not to do, and avoiding catastrophe...such as Gene mentioning to turn off the oxygen/acetylene tanks at the end of the day.

It's always fun to watch somebody do something that they're really really good at...doesn't matter what it is. I remember as a little kid, having breakfast with my dad at a restaurant. We were sitting at the counter, and we could see the cook working. Dad said, "Ricky...watch the cook ****er the toast." The guy had about 10 slices of toast lined up in a row. He ****ered them all in one swipe...zip...lol.

Saw this thread and had to watch the whole build. Bad*** episode and putting it up is a nice tribute to norm.

  5. Being with Gene for a full week chopping and painting a car was great. To see all these guys doing what they do, this would be the epitome of my life!!

Are these guys who posted #32 and 36 for real? Names like Winfield, Hines, Dean, Grabowski and #32 and 36 didn't understand the "Historical Significance?"

Well, you know. Not everyone is as smart and up-to-speed as you.
Maybe they were quite young when they viewed it the first time around.

I never saw this, damn glad it was posted. It is such a great pleasure to see these guys at work even though it was in a tight time frame, having fun and working like a machine. True icons just doing their thing, man, what I would have given to be there to watch and listen. Norm, you're a blast!!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you ******** So humbled. I have spent countless hours reading and examining these guys work. I had never even touched sheetmetal before my Merc so Bill Hines helped guide me through it on my trusty laptop all the way. Im also glad he didnt hear my swearing or see my couple of f-ups. To get a peep into the personalities of these true Masters was an honour.

I'm 100% for real and possibly a bit more "for real" than some. For much of my life I didn't watch TV much, go to car shows, or have the internet. I chose to work my tail off in isolation and I didn't have time to watch what others were doing. I don't drink wine either and I don't know squat about it. There are some out there that look down on those that can not tell the difference in where a bottle of wine was made just because of how it taste or smells.
I collect knowledge and I would like some more of it. That is one of the reasons that many of us are on the HAMB. Since that show aired in 06, I have learned who all of those guys are and greatly appreciate their contribution and I greatly desire to learn from them. I didn't understand the historical significance of all of the WWI and WWII veterans that I knew when I was younger either because they were everywhere. But, now I do. That is the best that I can do.
