Big Dad! great pictures! the last one, a guy with PLUM NUTS on his T shirt, by the Judy lilly car brings back some memories. I could have been standing there! the plum nuts car did a "show" bleach burn out!! the car was purple as were the 2 hotties with the bleach!!! when they bent over to pour the bleach on the track, one had PLUM on her panties the other NUTS!!! I was 16 years old! huge impression!! I always thought it took a couple of smart chicks so it didnt read NUTS PLUM!!!

    MORE PLEASE!!!

    nice photo find, Big Dad.

I received some Sioux City Dragway trophies last week in a swap..
They need a little restoration, but pretty cool, I think.

One is from the Strollers Car Club, that started the dragstrip.

Wow. I am a little late to the party, but there are some great pics here!

  8. Dad ID'd this car as Warren Peterson from Brookings. The name comes from four owners. Peterson, Peasel and two others that dad does not remember. The car was really a C/MP but for various reasons tried to run D/MP that day;):D They didn't due to protest.

Bump...Newbie here and I am looking for any pictures of a 68 Chevelle SS, butternut yellow.

The gentlemen that bought it orginally bought it was Don Breem or Breen...not sure which one. He bought the car brand new and only drove it at Marion for the first 3 or 4 years of the cars life. My uncle now owns the car, and I would like to suprise him with some old pics of the car at the drag strip if possible....

    Thanks in advance!!

I was back in the midwest a couple of weeks ago, and I went to the Sioux Falls Automania, which was a downtown car show like a smaller version of Reno's Hot August Nights. What was there, but the Pizza Man 54 Vette! I remember seeing it run at the Sioux City drag strip when I was a teenager, and it made a huge impression on me. Sam Britt was at the Automania, and I got a chance to talk to him and get a little more of the history on the Vette.

I have some pictures I took of the Pizza man, but I'm having trouble putting them on here right now. I'll keep trying to get the pictures on; meanwhile, does anyone have any more pictures of Don Stephenson's Tension 57 Chevy that ran at the Sioux City strip

Howdy guys. I was wondering it anyone had any information about this car. My dad bought it off of a good friend of his in 1998. His friend bought it in Humboldt in 1984. It's a 57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr Hardtop. On the left side of the trunk is a pinstriped deal that says "Morning Sunshine" in red paint. On the right side it used to have a corny poem that said something like "Two scoops of love..." Dad doesn't remember the rest. It has a fiberglass flip front and a very wild plush pillow interior that looks like it came off of the people's couch in "That 70's Show". Dad said it used to have dual 4bbl carbs on it when his friend got it. It was sitting outside one day and an old man walked in to our shop and said that it used to have a wheelie bar. Dad's friend used to take it up to Des Moines when he owned it and a few people told him it used to be a show car up there. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much, Philroy.

    Malcolm,
Is that the same Rocky Fey that was hooked up with Butch Hansen in SF running 360 sprint cars back a few years ago? Just curious because my father built Butch's engines. Haven't seen Rocky in several years.

Rick, that is the same Rocky Fey. He's still messing with cars, lives in LeMars, IA, and actually just bought my Uncle's Model A Roadster.

Malcolm, small world I guess. Love your roadster by the way. Hopefully I'll eventually get to see it in person.

The white "Tension" 57 is the one I'm talkin' about...red windows, white-painted chassis and underside and all. What a car...the stuff I dreamt about as a young guy, and still do. Thanks for posting the pictures!

Thanks for adding me on FB! That's actually where I first saw the video, on the Thunder Valley page. Definitely planning on making a few trips up there next spring/summer to catch the races and maybe participate.

Malcolm, you need to bring that roadster to TV when they're having one of the stock and super stock combo races. That way I can check it out in person.
