Hi mercury fans. Have any experience about those inner or rocker panels which are for sale in ebay(sherman, etc). How good these fit ?,also steel quarter panels seems to be for sale. I read some old discussion about Green mountain parts,is this shop still at work. Thanks Tapsa from Finland
I would see if Matt Townsend makes them, he's as knowledgeable as it gets when it comes to 1949-1951 Mercurys. From the list in my sig: Townsend Customs & Hot Rods Riverside, CA Matt Townsend 951.833.1835 slddn50matt@gmail.com http://www.facebook.com/TownsendsCustoms?sk=wall slddnmatt on the HAMB -All custom fabrication for 49-51 Mercury customs, including chops, trim, gl***.
I got a pair of stamped rockers from Mercuryland about two years ago that I think were done by Green Mountain parts. They are expensive ~$650 or so, but fit great and fixed the rotten rockers problem. Most of the other stuff on ebay is poorly bent up sheet metal that isn't worth the shipping cost. IMHO. I bought several pairs looking for a solution, and finally got the stuff I need from Mercuryland. The just had an "inventory reduction auction" last weekend, so I don't even know if they are still in business...but that would be a good place to look, also.
Thanks,I try these first, what you guys think about steel quarter panels ?,also for sale in ebay.My project have fibercl*** quarters and I don't like them.
The steel lower quarter panels appear to be of proper fit but price is higher than some are willing to pay at near $800.00 each. They should fit 49 & 50 coupe models. The ones on flea-pay should be same as this link. http://www.body-panel.com/details.asp?ID=5594 I'm not sure if they make them or buy them from someone else though and so far, have not heard of anyone that has tried them yet.
Thanks, these quarters i mean,it made in USA,i think there is only one manufacturer and many sellers,MAC sell these over $1000. Because I'm international buyer I don't have many options but thats ok. thanks again
