It was bought by Ecklers, the corvette guys, hopefully it will still remain the great business it has become.

Ecklers has a pretty good reputation - should be good for Mac's as time goes on.

  3. I've bought a ton from Ecklers, and quite a bit from Mac's over the years, both have always been great, so I'm confident things will continue to be good.

Yeah, seems like everytime Ecklers buys out a company the prices go way up.

Mac's has been very slow shipping and gouging on the shipping cost. Hope things improve.

    Dearborn Cl***ics,

I used to buy from them until Ecklers bought them out. I could get parts shipped the same day and receive them in two days with UPS Ground shipping. After Ecklers bought them it now takes 5 -7 days. I'm in Washington and they are located in Oregon. Hmmmm...

Go figure, another good independent parts place gone to corporate status.

I believe they moved the operation from Oregon to Florida. If so, there is your week shipping.

I wonder if Macs will make the trek to ***usville too? The only thing I ever bought from Ecklers was a hatchback kit to turn my 68 Vette into a wagon back in '72 and the car got stolen the day before the kit arrived.

No kidding, my friend this week was complaining he ordered a couple very small parts from Mac's, a headlampswitch bezel & nut and they charged him $33 shipping charge. I know if you don't ask them they won't tell you shipping up front, they just add it to the cc charge. I learned to ask and have cancel orders due to their excessive shipping charges.
I bought a lot of parts thru Mac's year's past but started going else where in the last year or so due to their slow and over price shipping and more and more of the parts were inferior quality. When I complained about the parts the response was they had no control over their venders quality. I told them they had ALL the control, they didn't have to buy from them!
Maybe this new change will be good.

  17. macs is slow to process and ship orders.
but i guess it takes a while when the parts are coming from india, china and mexico .
i've been buying stuff from them for years. hopefully no major changes.

Try "Mikes Affordable "A" Parts" - I did and so far very good... Way faster service than "Macs" ... No 3 month "back-orders" while we get more orders like Some place in Sac...

I have had good luck with Mac's, even though I had to wait forever for parts to arrive. Dearbon(ecklers) on the other hand, has been a pain in the *** for me. I ordered a handful of parts, one of them shipped right away but I got a shipping charge for all three even though two were back ordered. Then when one of the back ordered parts finally shipped, they billed my credit card a shipping charge a second time!

    I ain't a big fan of Ecklers/Dearborn Cl***ics-

I once ordered a carpet underlayment set from them fer' a 60-65 Falcon. Three weeks later it arrived n' it was in a box that was labeled "65-73 Fastback and Coupe" and bore no resemblence whatsoever to the Falcon underlayment.

Eckler's vendor just sent 'em the wrong part, right?

When I sent it back to 'em they said the picture on their web site was "genaric" n' the part they sent me just needed to be cut ta' fit.

When I tole' 'em the part they sent me was 'fer a 65-73 Mustang n' even sent 'em a link to Mustang vendor with the picture of the same-same underlayment, they said they didn't sell Mustang parts at all.

Well, no ****, I sez, just exchange it for me, n' send me the right underlayment, huh?

They sent the 'zact same 65-73 Fastback/Coupe underlayment back ta' me that I returned.

I ended up usin' sound deadener mat.

I guess that's the end of that.

Mac's was an honorable business, now owned by a less then honorable company.

    very sad day.

I expect prices to increase with this change of ownership. Most other vendors buy from Macs through their wholesale program. Any cost increase will be p***ed along.

I am sorry to hear this, Mac's may have been a bit slow to ship, but they were always 1st cl*** to deal with and took care any issues with parts with no questions asked. For you Model A folks out there I reccomend you give Brattons a try, their prices are good and they only sell the best parts available, shipping is fast also. But, they only do Model As. For fat fenders & 32s, wait for the Bob Drake sales and stock up!

WTF. That means prices will go up... I've always had good service with Mac's. Then again, never had to pay shipping prices, it's right in my backyard! Hope it remain's a company that is good to deal with and their prices don't go up...

  30. Well, I wish them luck raising their prices with at least two other vendors selling a lot of the same things.
