Projects 1951 dodge wayfarer

Anybody know a website to buy a gas tank? Or do I need to get a shop to fab it?

I have a mustang tank in mine.

 

49 - 52 Plymouth Dodge DeSoto and Chrysler six all used the same gas tank. I have a 51 Plymouth, 49 Chrys, 51 DeSoto all the same.

I found one online for $80 that has the right dimensions but the filler is in the wrong place. You would have to mod the tank and weld or solder a pipe about 4" long to connect to the stock rubber filler pipe.

Could not find any stock replacement other than that. I was lucky enough to find a good used one.

Measure your old tank and do some web searching. The one I found the closest, was the $80 job, a universal fit hot rod gas tank.
