motor for my 1949 pontiac

    what do you guy think about a 230 pontiac over head cam motor for my hot rod
    i have frenched in the tail lites and head lites shaved door handels the only chrome will be around the top of the doors and bottom of my conbertible top and windsheld and the rocker panel it will be in flat back paint

    Sounds great if they still make timing belts for the OHC Poncho L6.

  4. Paint it a more original color... The OHC-6 isn't a bad motor but a lot of parts are basically unobtanium, so it won't be cheap. Just as easy to stick a Pontiac 400 in there.

    Thought I read on this forum of valve train issues with this motor. May want to do a search.

    they do have cam follers they are 175.00 and lifters are 100.00 and camshaft is over 300.00 i think if you had to rebuild one it would cost alot

    im not relly a pontiac v8 fan had a couple and had some trouble with them

    Yes there are some valve train issues... Biggest one I would be worried about at this stage of that engines life if the "cam box".. The head did not really flow that well.. Other than looks no good reason (in my opinion) to run it over a 230/250/292 Chevy. The Pontiac bottom end is basically a 230 Chevy....:):):)
