Why would you cut it?There are at least 3 hambers on here that can drop it how you want-mag,it check for straightness. You will have a good axel! 296V8 Cal, Joes speed shop Okla,Nostalgia Sid Okla.

  4. Good advice here from Texas Webb

I am pretty backyard sometimes but that cutting it and welding it back together is backwoods not back yard at all.

    ok,
i was told they used to cut them so i was unclear of what actually gets done.... advice taken...

  6. There may have been some of that going on but would not reccomend it.I had 296V8 drop two of mine, they turned out awesome.

  7. Way better this way then the alternative I suppose. Think of all the paint you would have to patch up if the axle let you down.

Not sure what you mean by that. Sounds like you don't care for the way about 99.9% of all dropped axles are made. Where have you seen the kind you are asking about ?

  10. I saw a "dropped" Model A axle that was actually the center of one and the ends of another stacked and welded together. It was both innovative and **** *** ugly. As for safety, I would not give something like that an opportunity to kill me.

I have used 296V8 a number of times and highly recommend him.

For safety sake, have one of the 3 guys listed above drop one for you. They have the knowledge and experience to do this correctly for you. This is not something to risk your own or possibly someone elses life on.
