Maybe it's just me but if I am building an American Hot Rod I want to build it with parts made in America. I don't care how cool looking they may look. Just sayin......

  2. Do you really think every custom part made back then was made in the US?

    Outsourcing is nothing new.

I've got a set of M/T SB Mopar valve covers for a 273 that my bro-in-law had in 1968. Made in Japan. Big deal. They look friggin' great!

Here's another set of M.T.'s made in Japan, on my 56' Bel-Air, with a 327 cu. in. I bought them on "the auction site".... Well, you guys know which one. I still think they look cool, wherever they are manufactured. I do not know how rare they are though.....

I like to see the different modifications made to M/T covers made by past owners-kinda like folk art.I had a set of SB chevy covers that had "dodge" engraved on them-came from a chev powered dodge challenger drag car.Another set I had were carefully[not!] notched to clear the hood side on a leffler sprint car.

    Doug,
Yes, Mickey Thompson made "Thompson" stuff before the M/T logos.
I have seen them in old magazines and catalogs.
Never seen a pair in real life.

"Moon Equipment Company", the little place on Norwalk Boulevard where the first Shelby Cobra was built, died when Mr Dean Moon died.... It is just a "marketable name" now owned and produced in Japan. That's my opinion, and I knew Dean & his shop.....
