It will be the first thing changed with the new frame!

Ramjet, That's my plan and if they don't like it so what I will just drive on by! It'a all good, if everybody stays the same it wouldn't be any fun at all now would it!

I'm just waiting on parts to get started and then we will see where it takes me! LMAO!

Hopefully you save this street rod from the 80s! It is ugly now but has potential! Good luck Jay

I am just a bit confused about the gas tank comments. The rear tanks were used from 1932-1940 (maybe even more) in the rear does everybody move their tanks on all of these models too?:confused::confused:

    Thanks 55,
The sad thing is this car was built in 2010! It may not ever be up to H.A.M.B. spec. So what it's mine!

And I dig your car love me some 55-57!

Those comments come from seeing burned 32's on hamb in the last 5 years. How many? and does it matter, if you get hit by a texter/cell phone user.

I have seen enough old cars that got hit for those reasons, and because of small taillights, so I chose not to use a rear tank on my 32. Not really scared, but I just don't trust modern drivers.

Well if it doesn't make it to HAMB specs so be it, but understand that if you are going to post stuff on a public form you will get feedback good or bad. Enjoy the car / project!

  9. I wish I had a start like that. All my stuff usually starts off as a pile of rust and beehives. Good going on your purchase, that's gonna make a neat ride!

  10. Sorry man, I know my op was kinda harsh. I AM really looking forward to seeing what you turn this into!!!

Sounds like you have had a few hot rods before. Keep us posted on the rebuild.

  13. And people think that Roe V Wade was a good thing. What an abortion.

That thing needs a tutor it is really confused.

Got your work cut out for ya, looks like you may have to "buy your way" into tradition. I guess it is a good starting place all thing considered.

Don't listen to the winers. Good on you getting a project/driver that makes you happy and gives you ideas on improving it to your liking.

  15. I was making fun of the seats, model A's had the gas tank in your lap.

  17. Maybe he should listen to the Bourdieus... or the Mu****els :D?

  18. For what it's worth, a minivan middle seat is cheap and will solve the big ugly in the interior at least for the time being. Other than that you seem to be on the right track, but I'd also suggest you get a 30-31 grille on it so it matches the body. I can never understand why guys build them mismatched - it ain't that hard to find the right one.

Boy is that windshield ever ugly, wtf were they thinking there.

    LOL

At least its a good start to what can be a cool hotrod. I agree, get rid of seats, tank, rear tires, IFS and change the color of the frame.

I'd say paint the frame and radiator black, and take the headrests off, and it would tone down the in-your-face look of the "non-traditional" stuff a bunch!! Trade the 80's mag wheels to someone for some steel wheels PAINTED BLACK and and you be stylin w/o too much cash outlay.

Jesus, that car is just a series of one bad decision after another. Thank you in advance for your attempt to save the cowl.

I do remmber a kit a few years ago for the 32 tank on a Model A. The windshield looks it was what was left over when the roof was cut off. The tail lights are Street rod from a few years back and the seats are for comfort. I think the body looks pretty good and if you find a roof it will fix the windshied. So after a while it will be a real nice driver and that is what it is all about. Just drive it as you get a new ch***is going At least it is driveable!!!

I had heard that NY objected to the gas tank in your lap so Ford moved it to the rear on the '32 ...
In my opinion it was safer in your lap -- and looked better too !!

  25. This thing is the Darth Maul of hot rods.... Thank you for planning to do ANYTHING else with it.

  26. Absolutely and whatever ya got run into by had to go thru the engine to get to it.;)

A stocker doesn't stick out that far and also has a bumper for some protection.

Well I found a frame and plan on changing quite a few things. As for the body and interior it will change in time. Thanks for the comments and I will work on all of this as I can and post the progress. The tank will be better when I am done too. As I said the builder through the kitchen at this thing and I plan on trying to make it my own and better! Thanks!

    Wheels will be TTs

  30. I'd keep the ch***is and just run fenders. If the IFS up front would fit under the front fenders I would leave that too.

Work smarter, not harder is my motto.

Good start to a neat little car. Congrats...
