I just picked up this 37 Desoto convertable. It has a 70's 250 cu in. Chevy inline 6 and a saginaw 4 speed with an 80s' Dodge Diplomat rear end. The front suspension is original IFS. The back is lowered with lowering blocks. I'd like to lower the front so the car sits level. Anyone know if it's possible to flip these spindles over to lower the car? I don't want to cut the coil springs. The car came with tons parts including the orginal tail lights bumpers. and a brand new convertable top. I've also been thinking about chopping the windshield. If anyone has any pictures of one of these done up as a custom i'd like to see them.

Check with FatMan Fabrications, he has dropped up rights for Plymouth/Dodge and Chrysler/Desoto cars for almost $400.00 a pair, they provide a 3" drop in the front suspension.

Check to see if it has the same suspension as the later ones. If so, see if you can move the bottom spring mount plate from the top of the lower a-arm to the bottom - drill out 3 rivets and remount below.

As JimmyB showed, they make a really great early style Custom. Does not need a whole lot of body work... Just the right touches.

Glad that you got the original bumpers with the car. Lots of early customs used those bumpers and it will be nice to see them on a custom 1937 DeSoto!
I like the cl***ic looks of the Neil Emory '37 Dodge convertible.

Cool find - lowering the headlights by fender mounting them is an absolute must do on these '37s....

Espo makes 1 1/2 inch shorter springs easy to change.

Just put a set of fat mans 3 inch dropped uprights on a 39 Plymouth with same front sus. You can also space the lower arm spring plate down for more drop. Still rides good. Posies makes new lowered rear springs for these also. Good luck and don't forget to post the progress here.

I'm not sure if this would make things a bit easier but look for a set of mounts and buckets for a 39-40 Dodge or Plymouth pickup. 39-40s are pre-bugeyes. My 39 Plymouth pickup pictured with stock mounts and buckets minus top turn signals.
