They kinda have a Keystone Mag Wheel vibe going on. Look much better.

I thought they were outlawing them in some states

  4. I always thought those were cool, and now I know they can look good too.

When I was a kid, I always had thing for the wheels on the older C60 trucks with wheels that mounted like that. My folks thought I was liking the trucks, no it was the wheels.

I think that was split rims. But... I could very well be way wrong!

Are they 14.5" wheels? If so, they are one use only, when the mobile home is done with them they aren't legal any more in most of Canada.

i researched this when i built my trailer---most of these rims do not have a safty bead to retain a low tire and are therefore not real safe and are illegal in many states--was not able to find a cheap fix --widened a set of travel trailer axles with chevy bolt pattern --easy to find used and complete with springs cheap--100 to 150 tandem axle set up

They do wear out really fast, but I never got busted running them in Wisconsin on my old trailer. I like the repainted look, they turned out nice, very mag wheel-ish.

Wow, I opened this expecting to see something that looked like ***.
    and was pleasantly suprised.
Even with new tires that is not the safest set up, but there are tons of them on the road being used by rednecks and farmers.
    Roll on.

"Rednecks and farmers"....that's funny! The only legal use for them in Saskatchewan is on farm trailers. And then you can't go in to Alberta, they'll haul you away.

I've heard here in Michigan they are illegal to run now too.
Yet I don't see a problem with them. Painted like that they don't look like the trailer wheels anyway.
Have you seen the thread about grinding the tire to get white walls?

Go to your local paint store and get some 100% Acrylic house paint and that white wall will last for years. HRP

I have 3 trailers with the 14 1/2 mobile home tire /wheel . one has a 5 1/2 bolt pattern and the other 2 are are around 10 inches as those in first post. These trailer's have been in use for over 30 years.................... For years these tires have had a warning not for hwy use mobile homes only. So I use a wire brush and buff off the warning. Be careful or you might expose some cords................. I always buff about 1/2 way around the tire that way they look like they were curbed...................... I never had a problem at road blocks or while being pulled over for other violations {mostly speeding}. I buy them on rims for 15 to 20 dollars as stated in a reply they do wear a little fast.

Its the tires not the rims that are the issue. Some of the 14.5 tires are for mobile home transport only and some for one trip only. But you can get DOT legal 14.5 tires for over the road trailers. They are typically found on low boy equipment trailers and even some older airstream trailers. Get some non mobile home tires are all should be OK,

Yeah come think of it at work we have couple of old Butler tilt trailers in the rental fleet with 14.5 tires for trailer service. I know how to paint them to look cool now.

    thats what these are.

  27. They might be legal but isnt it just for low speed .... sorta like a temp wheel is? .... but that could just be a california thing.

My very first race car trailer was homemade using two mobile home axles and wheels and the frame was made from 2 gas station service racks. I paid $ 400 for it and got it from a stock car racer. Hauled our Mustang drag car all over, even from PA to NC and never gave a thought about the tires or anything like that failing. It was some backwoods engineering but it held together and actually towed really well.
