Working on my project and starting on the interior. The car came with the original rear seat springs in the back, both bottom and back.

Both are in decent shape, rusty but they have spring left in them.

Does it make sense to try to rebuild them?

I've seen tube frames for sale and some seats home build from wood.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!!

Hard to bet the original seats especially since you already have the springs and frames,,I would use what you have. HRP

:DJust had my '32 reupholstered and it had the original rear seat springs which I rebuilt over 25 years ago. When I asked the upholsterer if he would replace the rear seat (I thought it was rather heavy), he said that he would have to make a whole new seat out of dense foam covered with softer foam and then carve it to match. This meant $$$$ to me and so I went with the original seat springs. And you know what......it is very comfortable, just like sitting in a sofa. No regrets.

If they are just rusty,as in surfaces, clean them up a little then spray with rustoleum or por.if they are rusty, crusty you may need to replace. There are replacements available.but you can also get a spring set out of a donor and modify them to fit.cars from the 60s 70s have zig zag springs, with a frame work.the frames are just metal, cut fit weld. the springs should not be welded, but can be cut and rebent. good luck

Excellent thanks!! Just didn't want to spend time on a loosing cause... I'll give it a go and see how it comes out. Feels like a waste to get rid of the real thing.
    Thanks again.

Absolutely! If the originals can be restored, go with it!
