    :)
Greetings to all . Am finishing up a 59 Dodge and plan to go back to work on my 58 Buick Roadmaster . I was considering a torque tube elimination before I went to work on the Dodge . I probably will replace the flightpitch in the Buick with a Dynaflo - a relatively easy modification . I am not thrilled with this mod so I am at least intertested in some further education . Let me thank you guys in advance for any help and education you may furnish . I am not a fabricator so I probably will have silly questions . I won't throw all my questions in the ring at once so let me start with the following ; does anybody know of a modern transmision which is non torque tube which will bolt directly to that original 364 nailhead ? Thanks again in advance .

If you get a crankshaft adapter and pilot bushing from Russ Martin (http://nailheadbuick.com/transadaptors) you can use a 1964-1966 ST400 from a Buick fullsize car with a nailhead. You can then bolt in a 1961-1962 open drive center section from a fullsize Buick (your car came stock with a 3.23 ratio, so if you get a center section from a 1961-1962 fullsize Buick with a 401 nailhead and 4 barrel carb it should also have the 3.23 ratio). You will then need to add something like Chevy truck trailing arms to replace the torque tube (Russ also sells a torque tube elimination kit http://nailheadbuick.com/drive-line-and-differential). Lots of threads on here about converting to open drive, just do a search. Here are some:

Thanks for reply . I haven't been able to access this website due to a problem with my computer but hopefully that issue is resolved so I apologize for not getting back sooner . This weekend is our families Thanksgiving since my kids live so far away ; I will look over all those leads you gave me Sunday or Monday . If it isn't much of a problem I would like to run some other questions by you when I complete my homework . Thanks again for your help . My Buick has been sitting for about 2 years and I would really like to decide what course to take to get it back on the road . Regards .

Is there some compelling reason for eliminating the torque tube? You're planning to replace one Buick transmission with another so why not leep it simple. ther's nothing wrong with the torque tube rear end.
