I bought this '57 210 wagon about 5 years ago because at first glance it looks the part and I like it. I also thought it would look good towing the TQ midget when its finished.
It's a decent driver and its fun to hear the comments like "what a nice Nomad or Handyman". If they ask I tell them it was originally a 4 door.
At times I wish it was still a 4dr just to get the granddaughter strapped into the rear seat easily.

One thing about keeping the small doors on the front it does keep big****ed people out of your car...

31 Hudson, 26 studebaker front fenders, 28 chev rear fenders, 31 hudson running boards with a touch of 28 model a running boards to fill the gap between the fenders...

Looking good.I'll be watching for updates.I think if I welded the back doors and chopped it hard it would look like the Fonze in NJ did it (not the look I'm goin' for).

  7. I didnt hear about the "fronze" do you have any pic of that ??
the problem i think its if you weld the back door the rear side window looks sooo long.. i think its better to leave it as a chopped more doors ! i saw one maroon shoebox 4 door chopped, very cool !

Yeah, that. There was a thread a few years ago about changing a late 50s Mopar, 57 Plymouth maybe? It turned out great but is quite a bit of work.
Weld the doors shut and it will look like a 4 door with the doors welded shut.

  11. The roof line on a 4door shoebox is different to the two door.
The c pillar is bigger, and the drip rail trails off to no mans land on the 4 door.

And since when were tri five Chevys considered shoeboxes!
Maybe belly*****on is a better name?

I like the idea of a 3-dr. That would throw people off.

chip foose did it to a tri 5 chevy on over haulin and made it a roadster.

  16. hanging a wider door and moving the B pillar back only took one day on my 48 3 window.

Alot of posts on this thread are so typical. If you didnt think of it, or it isnt yours, it is automaticly*****. If you dont like it, keep your mouth shut, or simply say "I dont like it". There is no reason to run someone elses ideas down.

Been building cars for a long time and never, never, never does everyone like it. In fact that is one of the reasons I dont do car shows anymore. Total doorknobs looking for the one imperfection in a bad**** car that is 99.999%******en really pisses me off. Besides that is how trends start... By doing something different! Build it the way you want to and can, Screw those that peer down their loooooong noses.

If I had a four door I would just suicide the rear door, kinda like french doors on a house...always thought that would be a sweet way to make a four door cool
