The car is a backyard Build, I am trying to figure out what year and make vehicle it came out of, I need Motor mounts and some other Parts. The Motor is a 250, at least that is what the machinest told me who rebuilt it and re-ground the cam, What he didn't do is put the lump ports in which i am thinking of having done now. Always looking to add more HP/Torque. It has a 2 speed powerglide in it. I has all new rings, pistons, valves, pushrods, and crandshaft. cyinders bored out .030 over,.010 off the block and the head was angled but I don't recall what degree.

    For the Block:
By the distribuor is the # F1207FA

Unfortunately I am not a gearhead, so am looking for help increasing the performance- Although my more immediate need is to find Motor Mounts to set the engine back in.

If anyone could help I would surely appreciate it!

230,250 doesn't look like a 292, side covers are not tall enough. Could be a 194, but most likely a 250. 230 and 250 use the same block and heads so its kinda hard to tell them apart. Try inlines.org , they have some casting number information.

What casting # decoders I have found don't seem to make any sense to what i am finding for #'s, Ilines.org #'s didn't seem to jive with what I have for #'s.

    Joe is right, it isn't a 292

The 292 going in my 48.
On 292 sixes the right motor mount is in front of the fuel pump while on the 194,230 & 250 it is behind the fuel pump and straight across even with the one on the other side.

Its a Canadian block, there isn't going to be much database info on anything made outside the USA unfortunately....

the F1207FA stamped in the pad by the distributor the engine should be a 1965 230 with 140hp according to this http://www.348-409.com/suffixsb.htm
According to other information it was built in the Flint Mi plant on Dec 7 and probably in 1964 making it a 1965 engine.

Somewhere on the block should be the casting number 3788406

It's still probably got plenty of power to scare the peewaddie hell out of you in that car.

CNC dude- what makes you think it was a canadian car? If it is I can try some Canadian hot rod clubs, or at least old GM enthusiats!

Its not a Canadian car, just a Canadian block. The hieroglyphics on the side are what is telling me that.

All 230-250's are the same. Just pick a year to buy parts for, 1965-1972 will get you most any part.
