Skylark wires are the ONLY wheels for a Riviera. Maybe so "right" that they are cliche. But if I owned a Riv that's a cliche I'd have to live with.

You are too big of a tease...Is there any progress on the "other" girl in your life? I haven't see any updates in months! I wouldn't want you over extending yourself!

That's what I've been thinking lately. Fear and Loathing in RiviLand.

Ryan... I'm shocked! I have not heard or read about "Iceberg Slim" in over 30 years. Maybe closer to 35. I remember finding one of the novels :)confused:) under my parents bed, right next to the Playboy magazines, when I was about 16. That would be around 1974.

While the "Pimp" look had it's moments, I'm glad that you have not chosen to pay homage with your ride.

But, if you change your mind, I can get you a set of feelers and a TV antenna for the back.

It's official. The HAMB has assimilated with my home shop. This American Life? Every weekend on the shop radio. Sometimes it's even annoying but mostly always there lettin me know what time it is. So now what? I gotta listen close and hear the story of a Texan and Riv? Oh the humanities...

But fuck all of that, this about an icon of American individual luxury and sport touring. Fuck Pro Touring too. Ain't shit when it comes to rollin something like that. But ya gotta ask yourself what sounds will emit from the speakers. Will it be Issac Hayes, Al Green, and the like? Will it be Frank, Dean or Sammy? Bobby Darrin? I recommend Sinatra's original "Luck Be A Lady" for the maiden voyage. Go ahead and drown out the mufflers for those few minutes.

I wondered if having the Borrani guys so close to the Hamb tent at the roundup would twist your mind.......

I love those wheels. Only wish I could afford a set

You don't give yourself enough credit. I always enjoy your well-written, far-fetched, vividly imagined stories on here. Sometimes it's nice to read a feature that's not solely about the cars, but at the same time are.

Hm.. You shouldn't have mentioned that. I just might take advantage of that in April. Mua-hahaha! ;)

I'm sure some enterprising individual here on the HAMB has the technological capabilities to make the Borrani's happen(and is probably trying to figure out the hub issue as we speak)Borrani could name them "Cochrans" or "Hambsters".

I am a huge fan of the skylark wires, I went in debt to own a set when I was building the caddy, I saw the borranis at the last round-up, to me they are nice, but give the car a whole upscale feel and a twist on the euro side of town, instead of that raw in your face lowrider dirty girl attitude that the skylarks demand. I know they borranis' guys are looking to comp a few sets on some high profile builds to help create some demand, But I got to hold fast on my skylarks. That is why I don't have the oportunities to work on cars like this or be in the position to be made the offer even. I guess i need to stop being soo hard headed, and maybe open my mind to change once in awhile, after all thats what barris, and alot of the other builds do, look to the new . But sometimes things just work and shouldn't be messed with, like mother nature!! I vote skylarks, but I soo understand the importance to use the borranis' when offered a deal. you go boss !! It will be a kool car fo' sho'....

my 64 Bamboo Creme Riv came straight out of beautiful downtown Newark NJ, and I swear from the stories the previous owner shared with me this is what the hood ornament should have looked like, and the 3 inch "ganster whites" lead me to believe every word was true. More details and story with photos to follow someday...

  20. Whatever you do Ryan, It HAS to be black, maroon or dark green. I prefer black w/blackwalls and wires. Be lighthanded with the lowering. keep it a "Gentleman's custom". That just drips coolness.....

I saw a Riv in Minneapolis years ago that was very dark, non-metallic blue. It was obvious that the car had been blocked interminably before it was painted, because it was dead straight and the body creases were razor sharp.

I have never seen a color that looked any better on a Riviera.

  25. Any type or size of "wall" is a distraction... Blackwalls mean business, no fooling around.
