I am an Army Vet and I am proud to be an American and a Vet. I will die that way. God Bless all the Vets and God Bless America. Lippy
Just phoned my older brother to tell him how proud I am of his three tours of duty in the Navy off the coast of Vietnam. I was the last of the draftees, but, I did what I was called to do. I am very proud of the service to my country. GOD bless America! . .
I just wanted to thank all you vets and the people that are in the military right now. I always look up to you guys. Thank you for your service!
Am I the only stubborn old vet that insists on writing Viet Nam as 2 words rather than as Vietnam ? Anyway thank you all current and past service personnel. Nam class of 72
Either spelling is right, Vietnam or Viet Nam. However, it was all wrong. Anyway thank you all current and past service personnel. . .
thanks Lippy...right backatcha and as well to all fellow Vets & active have a safe day. gatz 271st Av Co Nam 69-70
Hell, sometimes I write it one way and some I write it the other way. I was in the Nam class of 68. The photo in my previous post was taken in Dec 68 the day before I left the unit to start processing out of country. Wish I was in that shape now.
Gifting me with that pickup would be a start HRP! LOL I was stuffing a SBC into my 34 PU when I got my draft notice ..... had to put it on hold for a few years! Army Arty Korea 70-71
I got a nice call this morning from my ol' buddy, Tom...wished me a happy Veteran's day and even thanked me for my service. Happy Veteran's day to all the other vets.
My heart goes out to all those that are not with us today. Those that gave all, for which they believed in. We, that exercise the freedoms you fought for, Are forever grateful, Bless You. You are not forgotten.
Thanks to one and all, and right back at you. Thank you for your service, my brothers-in-arms. U.S. Army - 1983 - 2008 Infantry, Master Sergeant 2-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne
God Bless our fathers, uncles, wives and daughters who heave taken a stand to insure that we stand free today. As Winston Churchill so wisely stated, "all gave some, some gave all" -Lest we forget .
. I spent the day as a presenter at our local Military Museum. This is the 2nd year that I have been invited to bring some historical documents and war front art works into the museum to share with those who honor our veterans - our fathers and our forefathers. (The documents and pen/inks pertain to WW1 or 'The Great War' as my grand dad would say). I set up this morning prior to the ceremonies -just before the museum doors were opened. About 15,000 visitors came thru the museum on Nov 11th. It was good to see a wide range of age and nationality there. At times I had groups of 25 to 30 people standing close to hear the story of how these WW1 war-front-artworks had survived and how they came to be here today. A large part of my talk (and presentation) centers around The very first Remembrance Day (or Armistice Day) which was held and hosted by King George V on the grounds at Buckingham Palace on November 11th 1919 and on how important this day is to us. The museum is setting up a new wing (A library) and plans are for a `100th Anniversary of WW1' exhibit. I have been asked to loan a selection of WW1 items to the Museum for the 5 year term that the presentation will run. It will be a great honor to share historical information on when and how the very first Remembrance day came to be and how it was celebrated as well as share with the public actual pen/ink drawings from the Great War (the Front). .

I'm proud of my service even though I never fired a shot at another human or was never shot at. I'm pretty sure the "Jarheads" that came in from the bush were pretty happy to take a warm shower. MCB 3 Da Nang 1968
Same here, Rocky...except I figured if they had me I might as well go all the way and joined the USMC out of the draft line. Oh well, it didn't hurt me any and would probably help a lot of the kids I see today! People all over the world are dying every day trying to reach our shores in search of a better life. Never take even the smallest freedom you have for granted. It was paid for in blood. Semper Fi, ya'll. EDDY in DALLAS
Well my lottery number was high and my class was last to be drafted, I went anyway as I felt it was my duty. I am real proud and pleased for all those who served. You all have done well by our country, stand proud for what you have sacrificed. Tommy, Your service was vital to our existence, there is a lot to be said for never firing your weapon. Someone is going to say that I am not supposed to say that, fuck 'em, there is a lot to be said for never firing your weapon. I am proud to know you.
Thanks to all that serve and have served. Ad if you get lost, we'll be out there looking for ya... Your #1 fan... Ralfy
