Hi all! On my 35 dodge I had these handles .. but one of each, so I'm looking for a second set. The truck was 'thrown together' so I doubt these were original Dodgebrothers' handles.. somekind of right definition of these would shurely easen the search! cheers from Belgium, and thanks for looking!
The outside handle is identical to the 1936/37 Cord 810/812 - same handle but the escutcheon is round on the Cord though....
this one was on the left door, pointing forward.. I liked this, but can't really imagine they drew it like that.. so my guess is it was a suicide-oriented one?
Yep. I know on Fords if the hole is square it'sa '49, if it's splined it's '50. Did Mercury do the same thing?
Samster I forgot to mention - your handle is a p***enger handle. Driver's side is a locking handle with key....
Samster, That outside door handle looks just like the ones I have on my '36 Dodge pickup. They were on there when I bought it in '75, I'm sure they're stock Mopar handles. But that inside handle doesn't look Mopar. Look at the backside, they never cast anything without the CPDD logo. And the lock on my Dodge p***enger side is under the handle, not in it.
ok, thats also good info, though it might be a new quest to find those! I spotted a set of mercury 49 inner doorhandles that match, I kinda like the shape of em for the interior. as for the outside ones, they've put a hole and cylinder in the p***enger door with a lock, but driverside has no extra hole in the side, so I guess the lock was in the handle
Don't ***ume that there was an outside lock on the driver side from the factory. Many manufacturers only had the outside lock on the p***enger side in the 30's, as a safety feature. Would force the driver to slide out the p***enger to exit and lock the car in the city, away from traffic.
