Can some tell me the measurement of the door opening on a 47-54 Chevy truck. I need the distance just below bottom front pillar screws to the rear door jamb at cab corner. My bottom pillars are rotted away. From what I can tell it may be 33 3/4 inches but not positive since mine are void. Thanks for the help
Use your door as a guide for placement. When all is done you should have 1/8" gap at both front and rear. If you click on the link in my signature and then the cab repair album you may find some helpful pictures.
Thanks Curt but my doors sagged from the bottom pillars rotted away. This old truck has a lot of rust. I need a measurement to help square everything back up. The rockers are rotted and front floor is all but gone. After the measurement my plan is to weld bracing into jambs and cab and start replacing metal. Thank you for your help.
ok I measured my 51 and it's 33 3/4" but it tapers towards the interior to 33". Hope this helps and good luck with your truck. Jcmarz thank you. This really helps me a lot. Thanks for the links as well, I am going to need all the help I can get. The old truck was a mice nest for years and the urine ate this thing up. The floor and lower cowl area are bad but the rest is really solid. Going to need to do the Shadams special to this thing. Thanks again.
Mine is 33 3/4 just below the top hinge to 33 1/4 at the very bottom. There is allways a little discrepancy in these old trucks. Make shure to set your door in frame to set it perfect. Also, you can correct the common p***enger door problem of the lower rear corner of the door sticking out, sometimes around 1/4"
