hello all, i am in the process of building my 57 chevy pickup front end and im running into a bump in the road. iv got my 3 inch dropped axle coming my way soon and i have no spindles. i do not want dropped spindles. everytime i search i find 2" dropped ones. i can not seem to find stock height spindles. right now spindles are on my mind and not disc break conversions, yet. if any one knows where i can buy stock spindles for my truck that would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Have you tried here. HRP http://www.danchuk.com/ItemForm.asp...Category=f89496c5-0027-4f5b-b7c1-53232a4ee23d
So many people are putting IFS under these trucks you should be able to get a front end easily on Craigs list for $100 or less. Post a wanted add and you will have multiple offers. Jim
spindles came on the truck actually, one is free and sloppier then joe sandwich and the other is seized. both are beat to a pulp. when i said i have a 3inch dropped axle coming i was refferring to 3" dropped i beam for that year.
this project is old school, no front clips for this old truck and no bolt on IFS. i want this truck to be different from the rest and make it look like the way kids did it back in the day.
Dude, I yanked the entire front axle complete with spindles, drums, etc out of my 55.5 Chevy pickup. If you're willing to drive down to NY (about an hour north of New York City), you can have the entire assembly. Free for the asking, pay-it-forward kind of thing.
sounds like a good deal BUT im about 5 hours north. the round trip i dont think would be worth it, but thanks for the offer.
new bushings, maybe. but getting these battered spindles off and getting seized king pins out is the issue.
If the spindles are beat all to hell you would be better of with different ones, but as far as seized king pins it doesn't take much more than heat and making sure that the pinch bolts are not pinching to get them out. You may try carters they maintain a pretty good stock of used as well as new and NOS parts for stock spindles. I'll get you a link and you may be well off to call them as opposed to just looking on the site. Give me a minute and I'll get you a link. You may also widen your search '56-'59 should be the same spindle. here ya go: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...OSgJgP&usg=AFQjCNE-kKiYriKvht0Y1oPeCcJEu4gw0w
