I'm new to the hamb what do I do if I suspect someone is scamming? I posted something in the wanted classifieds someone contacted me saying the have the parts wants money order sent one place and lives in another country. It all looks so familiar to the scams I have seen on craigslist. They just became a member with no info or pictures what do I do? I would like to do my part in keeping the hamb a cool place for us gear heads that eat, sleep and shit cars and bikes 24/7

Just my thoughts, if there not a known member,or at least a alliance member,I'd move on. With that said I've bought stuff off guys that have either and have been good, but that was a for sale add,a wanted add is easy to scam.
    Good luck

Rare, but use your best instincts and you are probably right. You know, it it looks like it, smells like it, tastes like it, it probably is. Report same to Ryan so he can monitor and ban the individual if need be. Don't need scammers invading the HAMB.

I've had no problems with any HAMBers replying to my wants. Just look at there stat's and ask them alot of question's. If it don't feel right, move on. Other country, move on.

I'd check to see if they are a regular participant on the board or a regular seller in the classifieds.

Click on their screen name and click on show other posts. See if they are a regular participant on the board or if they are a regular seller in the classifieds as we have a large number of "members" who post a lot of adds in the classifieds but don't post on the board with the rest of us. Then make your decision.

If the offer sounds too good it probably is. I had a character pull in my yard last week and tell me he had a Model A sedan that he had to get rid of along with some other stuff and if I would give him money for a tank of gas he would bring it to me. I told him that I would leave 100 bucks in the back seat of a car I have sitting in the front of the garage he could have the 100 for gas but he declined as he said he needed the gas money then.

eh WOT? did you just reach in the bowl and pull out a selection of short Scrabble® words or was that supposed to be a sentence with some relevance to the subject at hand?

  13. Man, all you have to do is read the post above to find the relevance.
Surely a sesquipedalian can also master the short simple answer comprised of mono syllable words. Perhaps it is only the polysyllabic that you see.

Either that or you are just busting someone's balls- like I am.

I asked for current picture's, and a phone #. Told me he was having a problem uploading picture's, he did send a phone #. I google the 707.474.8006 and its looks like drumyn29 started a thread on this # 11-07-12. TOTAL SCAM

It's a total scam. Ignore it.

OR... just for the heck of it..... tell the guy to send the part to you first and you will send him the money AFTER you recieve it.

You won't hear from him again.
