Anyone ever have a problem with the electric Stewart Warner speedometers? The speedometer in the sedan works fine but it's driving me crazy,,it has an annoying click at each and every tenth of a mile. HRP
Had the electric wings gauges in my old 32. No problem with the speedo, but the tach was ALL over the place..I had heard there were problems with that line..I think i read it on here a while back. Tony
Go ahead and JUNK that electric mess and install a cable driven SW. I have the speedometer cable number you will need and I will help you calibrate the speedometer to be CORRECT Try to get a older one off eBay ... the newer ones are not as well built.
New SW guages are hencho en mexico garbage, be gratefull it works at all. I had a SW wings tach take out a unilite. Called them, they sent me a new tach, but wouldnt help out on the unilite module. Bought a new module, put in the new tach..... blip, another module gone. Called SW, they had me run an ohm meter across different things on the tach. Admitted they had a "batch of bad ones" and that the 2 I got were in that bad batch, said they wouldnt help out on the module AGAIN. Offered to send me a new tach, I told them to keep their garbage. If it isn't old USA made SW, use it as a paper weight,,,,, might not even work well for that
HRP, I'm with Deuce Roadster on the old cable SW speedo. Can you see the one in my avatar? Exact same deal though mine reads to 120 MPH. Must be 30 years old or more, found in a old box of parts. A few drops of 3-in-1 oil, and a new Lokar cut-to-length cable and that baby is sweet as key lime pie, TR
Mine started acting up while at the good guys in Charlotte. First it started to read 20mph when car was off now it has worked its way to 40. I was told by tech guy who is not even SW but a supplier of the gauges that i cant even send it directly to SW i have to send it through him to SW and it will cost my 30.00 in shipping cost. Probably because he has to send it to Mexico!!! What kind of customer service is that???? I dont even want their **** anymore..
I agee... but if you have a hole in your dash for the new ones... you might have to open it up a bit for the older ones. They are 2 different sizes. I found that out on my dash after I was using an older sw speedo for mock-up and keeping the new one in the box so it wouldn't get scratched. Went to install all the gauges and dang it!! .25" too small on the new speedo!!!
My speedo will not calibrate, is all over the place and even clicks off 10ths when sitting still with the ignition on. The tach is a whole other story. I have tried noise filters, independant grounds and power feeds, isolating the wires from the sender...pure junk.
