please share some pics of finished interiors ppppplease leaning toward white/black or white/gold tuckn roll the dash is done in white
the goal is to one day finish my car in lime gold paint like the ayala version of the wally welch merc. please share your ideas and pics all. sincerly M.
Here is All White. I personally don't like off color piping. To me it looks like Chalk lines at a Crime Scene, especially on the Carpet. This is just your basic Roll and Pleat job on stock seats. What you don't see is any of the up grades behind an unmolested 51 dash. The Wizzard
I'm not done yet but here's some pics anyway. You get the idea. Color is vanilla and gold. I was going with tuck n roll on the upper door panel but can't sew worth shit so i went with a material that is close to the dash screen lower overlay panel.
look real good. like the all white pistnbroke and def dign the gold dash accent tedley. I am running stock seats in my 51
I wanted to use a original frt seat as well but didn't have one. Two parts cars and no frt seats. Don't know why. Anyway i came across my buckets on kiji with the vanilla color and tuck n roll so it saved me a ton of money in upholstery costs so i'm going with these as it's a budget build. Got some material with it as a bonus.
Nothing wrong with Bucket seats as long as they fit the rest of the build profile. In fact I have a 50 Convert that will have them front and back. I'll tell you right now that they won't be White. Stock front seats are difficult to come by and when they do show up seem to be 3 to 5 hundred bucks if they are all there and can be rebuilt at all. Gotta ask ya, what's kiji?
My 51. Used four bucket seats, black carpet, black panels with vertical stitching and a silver "V". Matched the pattern in the trunk. Original dash with new gauges, including one temp gauge for each of the banks of the 8BA. My daughter and granddaughter with the car, and my granddaughter behind the wheel.
Plan a mahogany console that will run from front to back, that's about all I have left. It's taken me 8 years, I took it down to the bare frame and started over.
Iron Dog - looks good - like the idea of new gauges in stock dash - the new all in one replacement gauge set ups are about $300-your idea helps reach the goal cheaper

Check out the interior in Royalshifter's '51 here.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=533063 One of the nicest interiors I've seen in a long time.
here is my interior, the floor was influenced by the matranga merc interior.I used rik hovings kustom car site for inspiration, well worth it.
Mine is a '52, and my pics are kinda poor, but I think it still fits here. And here's a couple of before pics of the horror that was in this car when I got it. NOTHING ruins a traditional custom for me faster than modern seats stuck inside. That and tilt columns with modern steering wheels, but luckily I didn't have to contend with that.
That is gorgeous! I am like pigpen in the comic strips, there is no way I could have a white interior I like tedleys coupe
