How much different are the body sizes different between a 41 and a 40...could you put a 40 frontend on a 41...just curious?
My dad had a '41 Business Coupe in 1956 (he was 16 back then)... I had a chance to get one recently and I am glad I did... Have always liked the look of the '41. Mine has been sitting in a barn since 1959, so it needs alot of work... Looking forward to driving the hell out of it once it's on the road...
Porkchops? I likle porkchops, fried, baked, or barbecued. I like 41 Fords too, a very good vintage. Personally I don't carry the burden of worrying about whether or not someone else agrees. Your car looks good to me!
I belive it is 8 inches wider it overtakes the running boards if that gives you any idea of width difference
Funny to single out the '41 as a "pork chop" - whatever that means. That's like dismissing 8 years of Fords. Old Henry used the same basic body style from '41 to '48. Ain't no pork chop in my book. Sweet rides all. Now take my '41. Carried over from '40 she's a REAL sweet ride.
it silver maybe just the lighting of the pictures. I never figured there were as many people as there is that actually likes them as much as they do. Figured I was one of the few that did
I like them, but only if they're done in a traditional late 40s, early 50s style. Slightly lower in the rear, skinny bias plies, fender skirts... I dont like them with street rod "stink bug" stances, fat radials, etc. Chris' is a perfect example of my favorite style. Its just perfect, drop-dead gorgeous.
There were no ugly cars built prior to WWII. If you like it, build it. Same body '41-'48, always liked the '41 front end styling better than '46-'48. It's all personal preference. '41-'48 Fords are roomier inside than '40 and earlier, which is good for really large guys like me. Would love to own any of the '41-'48 Fords or Mercs. The '41 taillights were also used on '48-'56 Ford panel trucks.
I love my Skinnys in the front but I want to get coker wide whites and staying with hubcaps. Want it to almost be old school movie material stand out quietly
My thought is not whether anyone here likes or dislikes '41 Fords it's whether you like '41 Fords. Why would you care if anyone else likes them?
just pulled my Barris book of the shelf. Seems the 41 was a favorite of the Barris brothers to customize. One being the Jesse Lopez/Barris Brothers green taildragger. The other being the Jack Stewart Ayala Brothers/Barris Brothers Bronze taildragger, two of the first certainly two the most popular customized 41s ever built. I see the bronze 41 is now owned and being properly restored by two H.A.M.B. members. Had it not been for these two cars customizing would never have been what it is today.
Here's an old thread on 41 Fords: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447234&highlight=41+ford+underappreciated
Mike, I have owned some cars that were just out right bad to the bone. But my favorite car I ever owned (and never drove much) was my '46 long door coupe. I owned that car longer than any other car that I have ever owned and actually had sellers remorse when I had to let it go. They are actually just a tricked out from the factory '41. Buy the way, your sedan is starting to take shape. I believe the more you wax it the better it will get.
i think propwash is right ,you need new friends!!but im kinda different than alot of hotrodders,me i like them all from the 20s thru the mid 60s but all the 30s and 40s cars can and do make for some relly nice hotrods!
I've owned this one for about a year and love it.... ...another thread about 41 Fords. for your viewing pleasure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447234&highlight=1941+ford
