I am, sadly, mostly ignorant about Ford flatheads. I am also, sadly, needing to get rid of 4 heads. Any thoughts on what I might ask for them in Cl***ifieds? I'm not looking to score big... just want to capture a fair price if they have any value, or if not, maybe I'll find some doors that need holding open or something. I can take pics of the cylinder side of these if needed... I was just being lazy. Thanks in advance to any experts who can ID what I've got... [pics deleted since there's nothing worth looking at]
Yep probably should have wiped that off right there. hey Kevin, What marking come on those rockey mountain heads they made? do you recall?
Yeah, well... being the smart*** that I am, I almost mentioned that in my OP. Having said that, that ink is about 20 years old. Sounds like stock flathead parts haven't kept up with COLA.
Those are the basic 1938--1942 221 p***enger car heads. The type and number of top outlets makes them the variant from 194-42, with holes for electric sender and for hot water type heater. (top one! look at others...taperd pipe thread holes for electric sender, straight with shoulder 1939--back, lots of variants of these. None really worth much, alas.)
I have a similar problem with stock parts to good to toss but not worth enough to keep.... What do you do? I just s****ped three stock intakes that I'm sure SOMEONE needed.
Huh, smiley face didn't show after my eight dollar comment. J scow, don't beat yourself up. I don't think anyone needs a stock intake. The heads are a tough one though. I have a decent sized stack that I just can't bring myself to s****, but you should always keep at least one around. "Flathead tech"
yea probably worth a little more than 8 dollars apiece, but it was fun to poke the fellar a little. The last stock flatheads I saw at a swap meet were running about 25 bucks a pair if that is any help.
I've got a couple of sets that I kept to use as weights. Nice boat anchors, etc., and I've seen them attached to legs of pop up EZ canopies at car shows when the weather is windy.
How long did it take for you to come up with that little zinger? I'll bet a realllllly long time... because it's that good. *cough*
Put an ad in the Early Ford V8 Times.... It's the news mag of the Early Ford V8 Club. I found a lot of good 40 pickup things in there. 4TTRUK
