I have my hands on a 79 Ford F150 302...The motor has a front sump oil pan, will this config fit in my 1950 Ford coupe? I see the stock steering centerlink could be in the way for a rear sump oil pan.. I saw some info searching, but just need some clarification . I don't believe the stock radiator will work with this setup. thanks
Tedley cut out and boxed the front crossmember to use a front sump pan in his build, and i hope to do the same on my '51. many SBF users have used the Bronco oil pan or the Fox body mustang one.
Did you ever get an accurate response about the oil pan issue. Im about to buy a front sump, but now Im reading contradictions saying i shouldnt. i dont want to have to cut my crossmember either. Thanks. Ryan
I went with the front sump for rack n pinion steering room and set the motor lower. Cutting the xmember is a easy task. 1/8 plate and build a box and weld it in. Made my own motor mounts. Was nothing to it. Had to run a remote filter which is nothing to. Changing oil will never be easier. A friend of mine used Jamco bolt in mounts but sits a lot higher and he can run a shorty filter. His pan is the mustang ho pan and it might clear the rack and pinion as well. He did not cut his xmember. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOdJkyCjr4E
