I had a great time this weekend at the Drags. Plowgirl and Joey came all the way up from Austin to check out the action. It is always great to hang out with them. I wish they would move back to Illlinois! I miss them terribly. I had a few mishaps on the road, one big one on the way home when I was attacked by a road alligator in St. Louis. Some guy ran over a big chunk of truck tire and it became airborne and took out my headlight, ****ed up my paint on the grille and door, and was about 6 inches from taking off my hand since I like my "arm out the window" pose. The trip was an expensive one, I now need a new windshield, driver's side window, and now possibly a new paint job on the left side of the truck. Oh well, my last big trip resulted in a court date with the results still pending. Ha ha ha I met a lot of people out there. Most were a "hey, I am _______, nice to meet you" and that was about it. I am terrible with names and faces, so unless we shared a ****tail and a few insults I have a hard time remembering you. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to meet and talk with everyone. I kept making the rounds at the drags and I seem to make it around quite anonymously when I am not near my truck, Ha Ha Ha.
if you'd slow the **** down, that **** wouldn't have happened. we got on the hi-way right behind you, and even mark's lead foot couldn't keep up with you. i guess i'm gonna need an overdrive to roll with the S.I.G.R.'s!
We also went out to see the Starbird museum. It was great tlking to Daryl, I could have talked to him all day. I, being a junk pile lover, asked him where his "reject pile" was. He claimed to not have any rejects but his junk hole was out back in the horse pasture. So we all went out to look at some wonderful junk. Daryl actually has a BATMOBILE in his JUNK pile! I think the Starbird family has some serious mental problems though. They own 80 acres and had 3 moster trucks on the premises. If it were my place there would be one hell of a monster truck course out there, screw those hay burning horses! Alas, the monster trucks looked like they haven't moved in years. I could imagine what my friends and I would be doing after a few ****tails if that were my place. Here are a few pics of stuff: Tyler and Plowgirl checking out the bubble top mold. We should have brought it back for Little Mike to noodle wrestle in. Me standing next to the "Junk" batmobile Tyler next to some car outside that I forgot the story to. Bob K and the gang in front of some old trailer. I tried to get an action shot of them going down the interstate, It would have made an awesome hair club for men adverti*****t! Unfortunately the picture turned out as a blur with 3 shiny spots on it. Ha Ha ha
I am surprised you didn't have frizby jump out and get that *******. I am sure he would have been game. Sorry to hear about the damage man. Sounded like a good time though. I rolled the Gunn out and swept up some. Then proceeded to make a new mess in your shop. I will be out after work tonight for a few hours. Maybe the wheel wells tonight. With the other section welded in it really stiffened the body up. Well you kept the rubber side down that was the important part.
Mainly you could find us sitting out in the hotel parking lot telling lies and drinking beer. I lasted till about 4 a.m. Sunday morning but then I had to give it up. I met Flamed a-bone and some one else I can't remember but I was too tired by then to speak. I gave all of my last soldiers to t-man and them to kill. Little Mike is a bon-i-fied pimp daddy. He brought a couple of his *****es and that is all I am going to say about that. Here is a pic of the last ones standing in the parking lot. We also got to see a semi on fire on the way home, I just barley got this pic snapped off. You wouldn't believe the heat coming off this thing all the way over in the other lanes. The fire trucks hadn't even arrived yet because they were stuck about a mile back in traffic.
Thanks for the beers and the chance to hang out. At 6 am Blakmerc and I went on a mission find the last of the cold beer, if someones cooler was lighter in the AM, it was proably from us .
Oh, and Plowboy, after you hit the sack, Nic and I took some pics of the "BLUE HEROS". Hopefully he will post em.
I never thought it would come to this, "Gay Space Truck Bashing" By tuff tire treds ............... FRITZ burrrrrrrrrrrp!
hey, we must have gotten ahead of ya some point, cause three truck drivers were still battling that under-hood fire with some woefully inadequate extinguishers.
I just spent 5 days with darryl doing the monster garage thing and I have to say he is one super nice guy. I've always loved his work ,knew him from afar, went and entered his shows, but never spend quality time with him. I love riding in cars with darryl !!! He has taken very good care of himself and I have alot of respect for this man. what a good guy
Finkd, nice to meet you. I didnt know you were in Ark City? We deal with Tom Bay there all the time. The coupe doors I had on the trailor came from him in fact. !
Damn, sorry to hear about the damage. The space truck is not only a parkinglot poser, we were going 85-90 all the way back from Starbird's, finally someone else who is not affraid to drive their car. BobK tried to keep up, even with the three aerodynamic domes, they fell back. Here are a couple more from Starbird's The Horse field Spare bubble
Steve you probably didn't have to stop for gas as much as we did. I only have a 13 gallon tank and I think we had stopped 2 times by then. You know me and my lead foot. I didn't take the truck down the drag strip because I hadn't had too good of luck on my trip up to that point anyway. It is probably good I didn't for sure now! That is OK though, since I had Frizby with me..... I ran a 0.00, blown, on alcohol! Ha ha ha
Damn "Gee" That truck took some abuse this weekend didn't it. Good thing the event was so much fun eh You are always fun to hang with. And how many people can say they messed around in Darrel Starbirds Junk pile
hey Plowboy, dont worry man, that damage should buff right out dood BTW... it looks like you were pickin your *** next to the batmobile... cant take them damn gay rodz anyplace nice i tell ya
Plowboy.....was that Batmobile carc*** covered in a black "velvet finish" ? If so, it's the one I was arrested in while driving through Des Plaines, IL back in '68.
This one was a fibergl*** one that had never been built. I would like some details on being arrested in the batmobile. Do Tell!
Plowboy, It was good meeting you. Thanks for bringing down the door...and for the beer. I hate the damage to your truck...that really ****s.
Yoiks! That ****s. Bet you had to iron the seat covers afterwards. That's only happened to me once, but it sure woke me up in a hurry.
Reggie, good to meet you. I plan on coming down there to Austin some time next year and expect a tour of your junk pile!
Damn Plowboy, sorry to hear about the problems on the way home. Had a great time man. Nice to see you again. Take care amigo! monkey
I thought Mama Rash was gonna kick your *** when I told her you were the one putting idears in my head! I was hoping she would start to get my idea after explaining it to here and showing her the space truck. Oddly, all she thinks about are the 3 59 Plymouths soon to be clogging up "her" yard. She doesn't even know about the other parts that will begin to ac***ulate yet! All I get is stange looks when I tell people my ideas for this thing. I think one guy may have thrown up a little and swallowed it back. But you! You see my visions. This is gonna be fun. Good to meet you and your pet Friz.
now you can chop it! i have your jacket by the way. just in time for fall! (i know, i know....it's about ****ing time.......) gonna be at ducktail? i'll give it to you there or at the pileup. unless we run into each other sooner.
Damn that ****s about your truck. Man this weekend was a blast!(what I remember) My new shirt is awesome- I wore it all the way home, even the bar last night.
****s about your truck gett'in hurt, but better it than you. Great meeting you at the drags and first time seeing your truck in person. Here's a couple of pics of the Spacetruck sitting in front of the motel, in front of Mootz truck. I'm not sure, but I think Mootz truck was thinking about mounting your truck.
It totally ****s about the Spacetruck!!! You'll get it bent back into shape in no time. Joey and I had a great time at the Drags thanks to everyone!!! See ya'll at the Pileup!!!
