    Hi Guys..and Gals,
Can anyone identify what transmission, drive shaft and rear end this is?
It has a 318 from late 60's early 70's but I cannot figure out what's been done to the drive train. The drive shaft appears to be aluminum and pretty thick:confused:

Isn't that rear end a 10 bolt Chevy? Mabey S-10 Normal Norman

I'll shoot a few pics of the motor in the morning. It's always an adventure picking up a project where somebody left off. Spent a good amount of time at work scouring forums and the web trying to figure out what the deal is. Possibly a 904, maybe even the original fluid drive with an automatic floor shifter? The rear end is definitely not stock as it is visibly wider than the front end which is stock.

  6. S10s didn't come with a 10-bolt, but Camaros did. What's the wheel bolt pattern size? Any signs it was redrilled?

If it has a late 60s 318, it probably has the matching transmission out of the same car.

The rear is an Chrysler 8 1/4. The transmission looks like it's a 904 torqueflite. The trans will have a number stamped in it on the pan rail below the shifter, post a pic of it and we'll figure out what year it is.

Thanks guys! I thought it might be but honestly had no idea. I'll climb under and try to get a pic of the stamped # this evening. Another oddity about this particular set up is the floor shifter seems to be installed backwards:confused: Any idea why this was done? Or just sloppy work from a previous owner?
