How much trouble is it to replace the wood structure in a 35 GM two door? Especially the wood around the doors. Ed
If you are a cabinet maker, used to working with hard woods I would say no problem to make your own... If not I would suggest buying a "wood kit" if one is made for your car...
I think it took him maybe about 2 weeks to get back to me. I was told he is a bit slow to respond. I guess they were right.
I've done them before, If you have decent enough patterns with the old wood it's fairly easy, you will need a band saw, a drill, (or a drill press is better) Sometimes the more complex curved parts were finger jointed with like 1 1/2 finger joints. You'll have to glue up several layers and stagger the joints on those pieces. A jigsaw and a table saw may be needed too. It's time consuming with lots of test fitting but worth it. Use Ash wood which is HARD as a rock, or use Oak which is easier to find. Post pictures!
