one of the pitfalls of owning an old Dodge is that replacement parts are not as plentiful as if it were a Ford or a Chevrolet. Some bed parts are available because the beds went through few changes in from '48-'85, but the Pilot House cabs were only in production from '48-'53; even more rare is the '54-mid'55 cabs. Late '55 cabs were used up through '60 for pickups, and through the '70s in heavy truck models. Anyhow, when it comes to replacement sheet metal, ya have the choice of finding a donor truck (good luck!) or fabricating your own parts (what fun!)

  5. Ya Im in the middle of fabricating my own floor right now, from seat mount forward and firewall including the floor cab mounts. Ill post some pics when im done.

Try 2C2fabricators in Detroit. Their catalog of 14 and 12 gauge sheet floor replacement pieces is pretty extensive. I bought a complete '57 Chrysler 300 trunk and rear floor pans and they were nice.

I've got a really nice short sided bed and a decent set of fenders and running boards for the 48-52 dodge pilothouse if anyone is interested.

  8. Heres a couple pics of the floor i fabricated. Slightly different than stock but thats what i needed.

Was a challanging project but I made them with very minimal tools, A body hammer and dolly, bead roller, and a homemade T dolly and a 3lb hammer.

Nice work. But, pardon me asking, those original panels look pretty nice to me. Why do you need to replace them? Something I'm not seeing?

  12. Thanks, The main floor section was rusted thru by the body mount hole, the second pic of the upper panel didnt fit the new firewall i built. Plus on the driver side i need to change the opening around the transmission and fill the old battery box in, and then fix the rust so its about just as much work. An with the amount of work ive done to the cab on my truck i dont wanna leave any rust in it, heres a link to my build if your interested... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=520334

My dad is restoring a 52 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup, 6 cylinder, 3 on the column. He's looking for wheels, healiner and door panels. Any help is appreciated! He's 81 and doesn't use the internet, so as his oldest daughter who knows nothing about automobiles, I signed up to do some research for him!

JPsDodge, www.robertsmotorparts.com has a headliner and door panel kit available. They have lots of other parts for restoring these trucks, and they used to have a pretty nice catalog for the non-internet types they used to send out with every order. Its been a few years since I bought from them, my 50 got totaled in 2010. The wheels might be a challenge., but the P15-D24 web site mentioned earlier is real helpful as well. Gene

Very Nice work I agree if you need sheet metal you get the enjoyment of fabricating it your self.
