Hi i living in Finland i have 2 FORD 34,1 has 427161,#2 has 4?????.I have heard that FORD mounted in EUROPE have 4????? or 40-??????GRETINGS FROM FINLAND
A frame that was never used would have no number, as the number was stamped AT ***EMBLY to match the engine/trans unit. A four would have a number well above 5 million. Your number is a fairly late 1933, and so likely the real thing...see if the 9 has a funny straight stem and the 1's are stamped I, distinctive Ford usage. I've never seen an example myself, but I have been told that MANY early Fords were stamped this way, with the serial but not the prefix. Remember that the actual primary number was the one stamped on the trans part of the bell housing. You've very likely got a legit serial there, it just doesn't match the ***le or the year...
Ford went to the straight 6 and 9 and the I for 1 in 1931, presumably so regular hardware stamps could not be used to alter serials.
I have a '29 Model A with original number on the frame and it does not have the "A-" prefix. There's a star stamped, the numerals, then another star. Bob
According to the first registration from 1937-1940 in my hometown had both V8. Frame: 427161, plate on the body :40-427161st
The plate on body is not there in USA, only trans and ch***is were numbered here. The plate went on in most European countries to satisfy local laws. Wead to have one MADE to register a car in Germany once...
