I am hooked! Been on the site less than a month, went to the drag event and had one of the most memorable times in a long while.

Gas Stove Bolt and I drove down from Kansas City and took a friend. We kept telling him about flat black with flames but it didn't sink in until we got there. As we rolled up the approach road we were next to a beautiful Olds 88 and a sleek Cadillac, both from Colorado I think. They raced each other a lot that night. They were both excellent examples of what we were trying to describe to our friend, as were many others.

I have never seen so many people from so many stations in life join together for such a good time and a common interest (except maybe bootcamp). I had been saving a 455, maybe put it in a little '76 Omega, but not now! I am going to find a '40 coupe and make a transplant. Gas Stove Bolt is motivated to finish his '40 chevy and vows to bring it next year, in flat black with flames of course....

On our way home Saturday night we plastered so many bugs the front of my Delta now looks like it needs a shave, millions of little fly creatures smashed all over every front facing vertical surface. We obliterated a frog of some kind on the way home too, it sounded like it hit the license plate but didn't, must have hit the front crossmember, couldn't find any frog guts anywhere.

Next year, we both hope to show with our cars and we won't be so timid, Looking forward to it!

You should have pointed yourself out to some of us from the KC area.
glad you could make it and bring another over to the dark side.

  3. Yea, "fun" is the word I used when I was in bootcamp.:)

  4. You, my freind... have caught what is known as "hot rod fever"...

try not to shake the bug... and use it to get going on your dream rod... a '40 with an Olds would be HOT!

    Sam.

mrpontiac, your'e right, it wasn't EXACTLY fun when it was happening but.....

SamIyam, I have loved Oldsmobiles for a long time, always owned a 60's or early 70's muscle car. It had to be no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes, little did I realize what I really liked was a HOT ROD, not a muscle car. I can see a Rat Rod in my future.

Raven61, I was a little timid I guess. Gas Stove Bolt and I both would like meeting the Hambers from the K.C. area. We could use the connections to finish the 40 and start my project!

Hey Olds Guy, I know somebody that lives near you that would go 1/2 and 1/2 with you when buying a 1946 66 Olds Coupe. In fact, I also know where one is... near you! You might be able to go out and look at it this weekend since it is the holiday; however, there might be snakes out there. Need to be careful! :D

Oh BTW, I also thought the HAMB Drag was AWSOME! I hope to come out next year in my LuxoBarge and show everyone what an 18.4 in the 1/4 mile looks like. Who knows, maybe it will have a new ****** by that time. I might break into the 17s!

Hey! I know you! For everyone else, he is my son and that LuxoBarge is a '64 six window hardtop fourdoor 98. What a beautiful car, all it needs is a good chop and maybe a 2 inch channel! What say you son?????
