I just picked up a 54 bel air 2 door post and i have a lot of plans for the car. I need a direction tho so i am not doing things twice. I have never restored an oldie and not sure where to start before i start doing the custom work. Its a shell and there is quite a bit of surface rust and only a couple minor areas with rust that has eaten its way thru. Should i spray it all with oil or grind it all off right away or... Im good at fixing up cars that have a good solid to them but i feel this one needs to be a little more solid before i start chopping into it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome from the east bay CA. I don't think I would spray oil on it. I would look at some of build threads on H.A.M.B.. Some take car down to bare metal then do thier body work others do all body work, then strip car. I know that is not a definite answer but looking at the build threads should help decide which direction will work for you to take. Good luck.

Awesome thank you very much for the reply. I read some others and i have decided to completely strip down the whole car so i know what im working with. Gonna use a da sander on outside and a wire wheel inside.
