I picked up a couple of Tudor Sedans body's a couple of weeks ago. Please don't flame me for asking but is there a way to tell exactly the year model? Looking at the body lines one appears to be 30-31 and the other has the 'wide' line like the 28-29 and 32 has but this one doesn't have a cowl which makes it harder for me to ID. Thanks.
i have not found this on all cars due to rust and wear, but if you look on the floor cross support where the front of the seat would sit, sometimes there is a production number or serial number. look in the model a restorers books they go into great detail about were to find those numbers and what they mean. Pics of the body would help to id as well.
If they have sub-floors there may be a date stamped on the one close to the driver's door. Otherwise study pictures either on here or Google and see if you can determine that way. There were different body makers (Briggs, Murray) and those will have slight differences as well. I believe the main difference was in the windshield area on those.
what? no pictures!..Its the internet man, get with it refer to 36-3 windows post, that should get you close if it is a 28-9 and it has the cowel and firewall you can find a date on the firewall.
Also the way that the body ties into the cowl is a good indication. I think that the murry is the exception to that rule though. I maybe wrong on this but I believe that all 28/29s have the recessed firewall. the trick with the '30/31 is to flip the firewall around to give to a little more room for engine if you are running a valve in head ot want to set your flatty back a bit for better weight bias. Oh Dennis not going to flame you I get confused sometimes on certain Model A bodies, but just to make you feel like part of the family I am going to give you a good tongue stickin.
well thanks 36-3 window,i wasnt to sure on what i bought but now i know. thanks for the pics. seems i got a 30.or whats left of one.
