It has been a long time coming. I have a few pieces left to put back in place. After the 6000 mile road trip to Bonneville in 2010 I really wanted to make her look as good as she ran. I am happy. .
I am still looking for a perfect re chromed front bumper, but happy with what we were able to do with what I have. Still have to pull the window tint(was there when I got the car) put door panels back in. Might add a hidden hitch to pull a tire trailer so I can take the drag slicks with me. Might try a set of drag radials. Need a high end 3500 stall converter. Otherwise done. Specs 331 small block 462.6 hp@ 6900rpm 8.8 explorer rear shortened, summers brothers shafts 3.55, Detroit. Jason,Tri-City Plating in Elizabethan,Tenn. can help you with the bumpers,,they will swap with you and you get instant gratification,,I love the bumper I got from them on Brenda's wagon. BTW,,the car looks great!,,,,and 331 small block 462.6 hp@ 6900rpm,,,Dang! HRP
The rear bumper came from Tri-city, Porter and I have done a lot of business. The front is one year only, and they never have a core. I am putting the door panels and front signals in tonight. It sure felt good to drive it this morning, made my whole day better.
Looks great, Heavy! Brings back mems of my best friend's '63 in H.S. Spent many a night cruisin' in his. Maroon, black b-seat interior, white inside the chrome strip, and a 260 that couldn't out of it's own way. But with chrome slots, we was sure lookin' bad...! Good job on your '63!
I have had many cars. My Fairlane is hands down my favorite. Just fast enough to be fun at the track, and an angel on the highway. Jetted down, with a little timing taken out it will knock down 14-15mpg at 80-85mph. There are a few things that could make mpg better, but the smiles per gallon are off the chart. It will cruise at 4000rpm @80, and never miss a beat.
