To make a long story longer: Running a 302 with a California Pony car adapter plate on the bell housing in my 36 Ford Coupe.. Trying to install a Tilton internal slave/throwout bearing. The Tilton won't fit thru the adapter plate opening. The internal slave solves some clearance problems with the exhaust header being too close to the external slave. The adapter plate is to accomodate the longer front shaft on the T5 Vs the original 3 speed ******. Is there a bell housing that fits a 1992 T5 to a 302? Where there any that had internal slaves?
Both Quick Time and McLoed for sure, maybe others too. The Quick Time is a bit less expensive than the McLoed, but both are fairly expensive. I have a Tilton Sonic series steel bellhousing with the bolt in HTO bearing for my SBC that was very reasonable, but I could not find a Ford listing when I took a quick look.
I guess I solved the problem. Attach the bell housing to the ******, then the slave/bearing goes on so you have to reinstall the bell housing onto the engine with the ****** attached. That was relatively easy with the engine out of the car. Lining up the bell housing tothe engine "in" the car might be more difficult.
The T5 came behind a 302 from '83-95 in Mustangs...these factory bellhousings were cable-actuated clutches.
